On what grounds would you complain? Forgetting you had it is not good enough.

Also, Pinnacle would not have sold it to you. They are the insurer but not the retailer of the plan. That would be your lender or mortgage broker.

If its paid monthly and you are eligible for cover then you would expect any complaint to be rejected unless you have any evidence of wrong doing.

no i didnt forget i had it i didn't ask for it and had no idea i had it. my mortgage was arranged for me by a company and the lady arranged all that sort of stuff and just sent me stuff to sign i was told i needed all the insurances i had. why does paying it monthly mean you cant claim?

That is the way it should be set up. The mis-sale PPI cases are typically single premium and added to the debt and you pay interest on it. Monthly by direct debit is how you MPPI should be set up correctly. So, you dont have any of the grounds for complaint on that basis (that is where many loan PPI complaints get upheld).

Also, as it was sold by a broker, it did involve a qualified individual who should have done a needs analysis and shouldnt have any problem in providing proof of that. So, again that counters the common complaint reasons on other PPI types that the person selling it was not qualified and that they didnt know the facts. (an approach used on credit card PPI which wont apply to mortgage)

It's an easy one for the broker to reject as they will have evidence on file (showing your application, illustration of benefits and cost, probably a suitability letter or something along those lines depending on when you took it out, a needs analysis verifying you had a need, your employer details etc). All you have is a verbal accusation. So, the lack of documentation argument wont work for you either (very common on loan and credit card PPI complaints)

This is why you dont see many mortgage PPI complaints compared to loan and credit card.

Ok thanks i get it now, thanks for your help. I may still cancel it though as they seem to wriggle out of paying out so its a lot of money to pay out for nothing

if you were sold a ppi on double glazing then it's the glazing company you need to start with as they are the one's who 'sold' it

I had a Cardif Pinnacle ASU/PPI policy for my mortgage. I was made redundant in 2008 and I claimed for about 5 months (about £3k). Only had the policy for 6 months until I claimed, policy premium was about £14 a month. best bit of business i've ever done!

Also how did you know you did not have it? it comes out of your bank account each month, you get a policy schedule, booklet and letters every now and then when conditions change.

A friend of mine is trying to claim on his cardif pinnacle insurance as he's been made redundant and they're totally stonewalling him. He's also realised he's paid more for the insurance then he could ever claim back on it - would have been better off putting his money into a savings account when he took out the loan, at least he would have got interest paid on it rather than having to pay interest to have it.
  • Hi all

Havin a go with Cardif Pinnacle myself

Had a loan with GE Money a few years ago which is now cleared and had the dreaded PPI,which in all fairness we accepted but we needed the loan so were scared to say no,but we werent given a quote without it I may add.
Anyway, took GE to task, they said it was Pinnacle fault as they had underwritten it blah blah blah.Pinnacle say its GE fault and on and on and on

So,sent the whole boody lot to the FOS.

    Let battle commence
