...The other thing is monitoring your reps, as people doing this kind of work can be quite desperate and dishonest. You could have your reputation easily damaged if someone decides to lie or just get angry or rude.
This is an area I've tried to explain to the OP here
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=2338813
but appear to have failed. Maybe someone else could try to explain better just how dishonest people can be, especially when they are not being controlled in any way and thgeir only aim is to make money quickly & easily."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -

I think the examples you have shown are probably unlikely to happen , but i would be more concerned about the lack of leads the OP will get , sales is an art . We get a lot of calls from companies like this and I have never bought from them , I really cant be bothered to interrupt what I am doing to go and check an invoice for something we have bought elsewhere . When I am ready to order stationery I make a list and then check online with the couple of suppliers we use .
The Op might say no sales no pay , but no sales also means no pay for her , also checking their phone bills is going to take up an awful amount of time .
OP you have only been trading a short time , dont run before you can walkVuja De - the feeling you'll be here later0 -

Good afternoon, could I speak with the person responsible for buying your stationery please?

Yes, that's exactly one of the points I was trying to get across"Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -

I am a receptionis and buyer of staionery, i get cold calls all day
and would not dream of buying stationery over the phone.
The world and his brother are trying to sell me fax rolls, paper,
cartridges.
The worst ones are the ones who try to sell the labels to go through
franking machines, 'only £35 per thousand Madam' I usually ask them if
i can sell them some as i buy them from my normal stationery supplied at
£11.99.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
They make a good point about being able to monitor/verify telesales. Perhaps there's a way though that you could research into from others who have gone on to hire homeworkers for telesales. But other than that you might want to look into setting up an online affiliate marketing program via one of the affiliate networks. Like cj.com, TradeDoubler.com, clickbank.com, linkshare.com, shareasale.com, AffiliateFuture.co.uk, Affiliatebot.com and the list goes on and on. You can find some talk of Affiliate Marketing within the MSE forums so a few people here may also be more familiar with that method and more keen. There are some forums out there dedicated to or have sections dedicated to discussion on Affiliate Marketing if you want to know more like DigitalPoint, WickedFire, WarriorForum, ABestWeb, Affiliates4U, 5 Star Affiliate Forum, WebMasterWorld etc. etc.0

Great job not then OP wants to pay as little as possible, so you get people to lie or give hard sell.0

Hmm, just looked at that thread Premier. I guess the op hasnt really worked with sales people before. I also think some of the more complicated (but plausible, and by no means as complicated as some i have seen!) examples you gave may have confused the issue a little.
I will try a simpler approach.
You need to realise that making you no money is NOT the worst that can happen from letting unmonitored staff deal with customers.
How would you feel when you find out someone has been phoning up potential customers as a representative of your company, and telling everyone that doesn't buy anything to F!!&K OFF and D1E?0
