I rang and SKY said the offer had not been sent to me so I couldn't have it.
They offered me 25% off for 6 months but I said no thanks it's 50% or I'm not interested. They went away then came back and saod okay as a special deal 50% for 6 months can cancel anytime and that when the 6 months is nearly up if I ring to cancel it's 99% they will give me another 50% off, if not I'm leaving :)

Do you think they'll give me this offer if I threaten leave and move to Freesat HD?

Currently I'm on SKY+ (movies + sports) and I've just purchased a Full HD Television

The advisor said you could cancel the contract at any time? I am gonna wait 6 months to see your post on that mis-sell lol. Why would they give you 6 months half price then just let you cancel a couple of months into the contract? Plus the advisor said they were "99%" sure they will offer you another 6 months free after 6 months... Hmmmm... You should bear in mind that the people you talk to on the phone work on commision and in some cases will say anything to get the sale.

Yes advisor said I could cancel at anytime within those 6 months but hey at ½ price why would I want to?
I don't think there was any mis-sell as you put it.
I wanted ½ price SKY and that's what I got, I'm well pleased with it :D
I'm well aware that the bods at SKY are numpties who don't know their ar*e from their elbow but hey who gives a sh*t :)
Anyway please feel free to come back and read about the mis-sell if you get the time to ease yourself away from Freeview ;)

I phoned up today for offer but was told I'd be charged £65 fo installation. Anyone else been told they'd be charged? Told them to forget it as wasn't paying that.

No company offer a 12 month contract you can just step out of 6 months down the line without penalty... otherwise it isn't a contract lol. I believe the 12 months half price is correct as they are doing that deal at the moment but it'll be a contract. And with regards to my freeview, I barely watch one programme a day on TV... more like 1 or 2 a week I care so little for the pay TV market :).

I was already a sky customer and have moved home. I was offered the £9 a month but when I phoned up they said it was still cost an intial £65!

Who said anything about a 12 month contract you can step out of 6 months down the line? The half price 6 months with no tie-in is correct as we were offered both deals as returning customer offers (i.e. that and the half price for 12 month contract the OP refers to).

I got this kind of offer last year though only 25% off when i came back. I was told it was for however long i stayed with them plus a Sky+ box (which never came).

6 months later they cancelled the discount and i rang up to ask why. They then put it back on again.

i know i didn't get a good deal but still better than nothing.
