BT Homehub 2.0 - driving me mental!

How far away can you be to get a decent signal? We started getting our signal on Friday and everything was fine - the hub was in the living room (about 5m away from my laptop).

On Saturday I moved the hub out into the hallway (about 7m away but through a closed door not that that matters) and it keeps switching onto BTFON and BTOpenzone? I cant get past that first page which keeps telling me to "connect to a hotspot".

I have tried disabling both these connections, and moved them down the list, and also set them as "manual connect" and nothings working! I moved the hub back into the living room and got onto my personal connection for about 20 minutes, but then BTFON and Openzone kept taking over the connection!

Its driving me mad - is there an idiots guide to getting rid of these bloody networks!!!

Try changing channels on the router.
1, 6 or 11 all worth trying as alternatives to whatever default it is set to.

Thanks - I have no idea what that means! But I'll have a look in the manual when I get home about changing channels.

You just log into the router interface via your browser (username and password required), go to the wireless section and there should be an option to set the wireless channel.
It's common to find neighbours getting interference because adjoining properties are using the same channel. And with HH's it's even more common, as there are so many of them in each street-as you can probably see in your list of available wireless networks.

Here is a handy monitoring tool which will show what WiFi networks are active nearby...

As you will see when you run it although you get 13 channels there is considerable overlap and the only "real" channels are those listed by macman - e.g. not much point in you picking channel 2 if there is already a strong signal on channel 1 etc.
