Virgin Install costs

Do Virgin have any flexibility in broadband installation costs as it is this that makes them more expensive than O2?
Would rather go with all broadband in one place than BT line at BT and broadband at O2. Don't need or want a land line to talk just broadband
Any tips on Virgin v O2?

well if you go all online you can go for quidco
http://www.quidco.com/virgin-media/
so thats £60 minus £5 if you are new to quidco
though bear in mind its not guaranteed0 -
Just want basic broadband, think quidco reard is for higher packages?0

Really no contest in terms of service-O2 wins on every count (as long as it's LLU and not Access). Only if you must have 20Mbps + then does VM have any advantage.
O2 are shortly offering home phone and line rental in addition to broadband, so you can bundle it together if you want-but why is having your line rental through BT an issue?-once it's set up no extra effort is involved at all.No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -

Neither O2 nor Virgin charge for installation when you sign up online so I wouldn't worry about that too much.
Virgin charge more for line rental than BT now - £11.99/month - and only weekend calls are inclusive, so Virgin's more expensive and not as good value if you use your home phone...
Virgin: (£11.99 x 12 months) + (£12.50 x 12 months) = £293.88
O2 Standard: (£11.54 x 12) + (£10 x 12 months) = £258.48
Personally, I reckon O2 are your best bet - better customer service, fair-use policy etc... Plus it'd be even cheaper with an O2 mobile and, like Macman says, you can always switch to O2 home phone when it arrives to get one bill...:p0 -
the op doesnt want or need a phone line
thats why they are asking about cable BB0 -

But the costs are about the same whether you have BT line+ADSL broadband or just VM cable broadband.
You are paying your 'line rental' on VM within the broadband charge. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Hi - Here's my latest O2 Vs Virgin calculations. I hope they help.
Virgin 10mbs with phoneline -
phone 11.99 x 12 = 143.88
broadband 12.50 x 10 = 125
quickstart installiation = 15
topcash back = 150
Total for 1 year = £133.88
Virgin 10mbs without phoneline -
broadband (15 x 3)+(20 x 9) = 225
quickstart installiation = 15
topcash back = 150
Total for 1 year = £195
02 8mbs with phoneline -
phone with BT 11.54 x 12 = 138.48
broadband 7.50 x 12 = 90 (as an o2 mobile customer)
free installation
topcash back = 50
Total for 1 year = £178.48
These can be tweaked to suit. I also have the costs for the next package up if anyone's interested.0 -

When i asked them just for a broadband deal (no TV or phone or anything else) they said they will install, and give 20 bit speeds, and give me a free router for £30 per month, that was around 8 months ago.Owed out = lots. :cool:0
