I have a meeting with LLoyeds TSB in the morning about swapping my student account to a current account. My student account only has a pay point card which I hate because I can't use it anywhere like in the shops. I want a debit card. At the moment I'm unemployed so I don't think they would give me a current account so I'm goint to tell them I'm working. What questions are they going to ask me and can I get into trouble for lying? Thanks Kara.

do not lie!!!!!
they have to take details of where you work and in some cases verify employment by calling0 -
Why dont you open an account with Natwest (Step Account) which provides a Solo Debit Card which is quite widely accepted now-a-days?0

If you tell a few fibs during the interview and the bank finds out that the information you have provided is rubbish they can and will close the account down.Compo challange:Amount won £0 Need to win £2400

They can only put CIFAS entry on your credit file. You will then find very hard to get a bank account.0

If you say that your 'employer' is going to pay you £xx per week/month (and they wil lask you, to update your information on file) and it does not turn up as expected; but they see that a jobsekers allowance going into the account - what do you think the bank will do??
Have you completed your studies and graduated?
What are the chances of you getting employment soon?
Fibs have a way of coming back and smacking you in the gob and like other posters I would think very carefully before attempting this fraud.0 -
This student account is from years ago. I just found the card and put £900 into ithe account. The women behind the counter made me an appointment for a current acount as I told her I have finished my studies. She said I am entitled to a current account as she must of thought I was working. I already have a solo card with natwest and find it useless as one can't use it at many placers aboard. I finding it hard getting a job at the moment as there is onlys 10 other poeple applying for the same job with less burdens then what I have. All I want out this current acount is the visa debit card as one can use it anywhere including america websits. kara0

Sorry to be nosey but if you are unemployed where did you 'find' £900?
What sites are you trying to buy from?
If your sole income derives from benefits then they might downgrade your student account(since you are no longer entitled to it anyway) to a Cash a/c. That has no visa facilities at all just a cashpoint card that can only be used in LTSB machines.
Have you considered getting a pre-paid visa credit card?0 -
The person behind the counter said it was a student account when in realty its just a cash point card. She said they have me down as a student on the computer and would upgard me to a current account. I have had that account for somthing like 10 years and never used it. I found the £900 under my mattress and it was making it lumpy so I decided to put into that back account. I don't want a credit card. I want a visa debid card so I can buy things from America.0

How are you affording things from america being unemployed? Think you should stick to looking for a job then apply for a proper debit card when you dont have to lie to get one.0
