They may do with their basic account but silver is a full current account with a visa debit that works offline.

I have the silver account, and have tested this on a Ryanair flight and at all the usual places...
Cheers again for the info Paul.
Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.

I applied for the Gold account but they said they could not offer me that account so offered me the Silver instead, I will wait and see what the card comes with once I have signed the account agreement.

    Silver!

£1 cheaper and gives you European Travel Insurance.

Select gives you a £50 interest free overdraft so think about this.

    Green Visa Debit.
Ok, my main concern is that will it work as a full Visa debit i.e. offline mode.

If it has the 2010 logo big and in the centre then its offline. If its just got a small logo in the top right then its Online Full Auth.

Dont be concerned - the silver account is a full current account and is not offered with an online debit card.

Trust me, it will be green and work offline.

Lloyds have a seperate cash card account for basic banking. The silver is most definately not this. It is a credit scored full featured added value current account.
