Could also be anaemia - do you think there's enough iron in your diet?
I have a box of Spatone sachets in the cupboard as I suffer with low iron from time.
Do get this looked into though, you're definately not wasting a doctor's time - it's affecting your quality of life and once you know what's causing it, you can do something about it, can't you?

I was like this and found upping my water intake actually helped. Weird but it worked for what ever reason.
I have also made sure that my diet is good and varied.
If you cant be bummed going to the gym (everyone has those days) stick the stereo on and have a little dance around. It may just make you feel better :j

another vote here to get thyroid checked i still get this even tho im on meds for underactive thyroid but until i knew i had a thyroid problem i just accepted that i was like that, now i know theres a reason i can try and do something about it0

You have got to get this properly checked out by a doctor. If it's happening consistently it could be any one of a lot of medical problems either physical or psycological. If your GP is unsympathetic go to see another one in the practice. Don't be put off. We can't offer proper advice on this at all...0

It's definately worth going to the GP may be nothing but could be CFS or Fibromyalgia. They can rule those out. Here dead we lie because we did not choose
To live and shame the land from which we sprung.
Life, to be sure, is nothing much to lose,
But young men think it is,
And we were young.

Hi alfiecat - I have fibromyalgia and you are describing symptoms that match mine (sorry!). Do you feel like your arms and legs are massively heavy sometimes, ie like they are made out of concrete? That might sound a bit mad, but is part of how it is for me. Plus the aching all the time, I think cos it creeps up on you slowly you dont realise what a big deal it is, you get used to it, but it is a big part of the fibro.
Your gp can send you to a rheumatologist who will know how to diagnose/rule this out.
Good luck!0 -
I bought a Philips GoLight Blu (SAD light) a couple of weeks ago and it's made a significant difference to my tiredness. At the moment it's about 50% off at Amazon and there's a 30 day money back guarantee from Philips themselves. I'm not normally a Philips fan but it seems they've got this product really right. Plenty of good reviews for it too. It's small and portable (unlike most SAD lights) and can be set on a timer to wake you up in the morning. As good as it is I appreciate it's not an insignificant purchase as even half price it's £125.00. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Philips-HF3330-Seasonal-Affective-Disorder/dp/B002G1Y8S6
I've just looked and it's now £99.99, I'm ordering one tonight as I've been considering SAD lights for a while. I've already been diagnosed with under-active thryroid, CFS and anaemia (which won't respond to iron tablets -consultant said there is plenty of iron in my blood but my body isn't using it to make red blood cells - insert confused smilie here) but I still feel like I want to hibernate so I'm going to give this a go.
Another vote for seeing a GP about your thyroid as a starting point.Marsh Samphire0 -
£99 is a great price.
I hope it works for you. If you can, try to use it *every* morning for at least 15 minutes for a week. I found consistency in the early days brings fast results and you'll also be able to be more sure that you want to keep it beyond the 30 day trial period.0 -
I'm feeling a bit like this but mine seems to come in waves. I can be OK walking the dogs for example but other times just feel I want to collapse onto the floor. I can work through it though (seem to have no choice most of the time!). The doctor just says keep a diary.
I was wondering about just getting some sort of tonic from the chemist but people seem to think these are rubbish................0 -
Maybe instead of going to the gym you could go out walking, it's spring and is amazing to watch the daily changes in the world!! Or do some more constructive exercise like gardening or dancing? The gym can be so demoralising sometimes with it's artificial light and lycra clad weirdos!!!0
