Windscreen damaged by car cleaners
My son took his car to be valeted on Friday and, when he picked it up, saw they had badly cracked the windscreen. They deny all knowledge of causing the damage and have given him an Incident Report form to fill in and send off to claim from them. The crack is so large that the car is now illegal to drive. There is a phone number on the form. My son's insurance is fully comp, but he phoned his company and they say he has not go windshield cover included and would have to pay the excess on a claim.
Not sure the best way to proceed as this valeting company could take weeks to pay up. My son was actually having it cleaned to take photos with a view to selling to raise much-needed funds. So that's on hold too.
Any advice appreciated.

just contact local companies for the window replacement, get it sorted and sell the car
keep recites of the cost of replacement and evidence of the damage, and try to claim from the company, there is no point in putting the sale of the car on hold, you can allways get the recite for the replacement and try to sue them for it0 -
Yes. That makes sense. I will tell him to do that (and loan him the money I expect!). Thanks.0

Hope he's taken photos of the damage (ideally whilst at their premises). Also make a note of who said what at the company so you don't forget/mix up details. If any other costs (e.g. alternative transport) are incurred keep receipts as you should be able to claim for these too.0
