Experian & Equifax - Electoral Update?

Hello,

Got put on the list 1st March.

I've confirmed this with my local government.

Any idea how long it takes the CRAs to update their records so it shows i am actually on it?

Cheers.

Adam

    Hmm its crazy!

£6.99 to experian per month and they don't update it within a decent time...

    Madness.

Personally I get equifax for free via Capital one (not monthly), but otherwise I get a statutory report for £2 about once a year.
Some people might want to check more frequently but it is still cheaper to get the £2 statutory reports rather than pay these fees.

    No.
    Banks don't provide credit reports.
Credit reference agencies do (Equifax, Experian and call credit).
You have a statutory right to get the report for £2 although in some cases this may be on paper and may take a week.

CapitalOne did offer a free service in connection with Equifax, but I'm not sure if they offer that now.

This site will give you a free annual report from call credit
    http://www.annualcreditreport.co.uk/
for a one off fee of £2.50, but bear in mind this is the least useful of the three.

They update things when they get the information. They cannot update your electoral role info until your council passes it on to them irrespective of how much you pay them.

In my experience it can take a couple of months for electoral role info to filter through.

Ahh i see, its just my local council have told me that they have passed this information on already.

I believe it the CRA that are slow at updating it...

Also very good point but i just like to keep in the know with it to be honest and check in regularly.

  • What about photocopying the confirmation letter that the council sent you when you were reinstated on the electoral roll, then send it recorded delivery to Experian or Equifax. That way, if they dont update their records soonest, when you contact them to query why not they will not have the excuse that they have not had the information passed to them.

Both Experian and Equifax found my entry on 7th Feb after I was added to the Feb rolling register. They said it can take up to 28 days, if you have more than just a door number, i.e. you live in a flat or a house with a name (or anything were the Councils address variation differs from the Royal Mail's PAF database) I think you will need to keep in contact with them to ask them to search for it and join it to your record.
