Which bank has a quick process when opening a current account?

I really would like to have a current account opened by the 29th of March (2 weeks from now).
I remember opening a current account with Natwest a few years ago, and it took around three weeks.
From everyones own experience opening current accounts online, which bank did they find were quick with sending documents through the post and completing the whole application process with much delay? Any banks to beware of applying for, who are known to take their time?
Thanks for any help!

LTSB seem pretty quick in getting it up and running - OH has opened one with them in about a week. Within week had debit card and just waiting for pin. Think online access will be sorted in week 2. Means payments can be made into the account now (because has sort code and account number).
Speed of response may be because appears on electoral roll and is party to a business account with them (though this wasn't mentioned when application form completed online).0 -
my wife .s open a ltsb account online took about a week to get cards0

If you want the quickest way to open an account, application through a branch is likely to cut down on delays due to ID processing, postal communication, etc. From memory, most of mine were fully open and cards received within a week to ten days.0

My Yorkshire Bank Readycash was really quick, was given account number and sort code on the spot. A friend walked out of Lloyds TSB with account number and sort code and was up and running with card and pin within 6 days. Barclays is very slow, another friend has been waiting 4 weeks so far.0

NatWest, Nationwide and Barclays all opened accounts on the spot.

Barclays can open a cash card account there and then (they will give you the sortcode and ac number immediately) - but you need to see an advisor - they may try and get you to take the form away and post it0
