Combi Boilers Hard Water Area

Anyone living in a hard water area had any experience of these. A mates central heating guy is going to quote him for one but I had it in the back of my mind that they can be risky in a hard water area. Saying that I had a Worcester one installed in my previous 2 bed place which proved trouble free for 3 years until I moved out

We have a Worcester in our 3 bedroom house and even though we live in a hard water area we do not have any trouble. We have however, just installed a water softner!
I enjoy my combi boiler. Found it works out a lot cheaper too. "Never save something for a special occasion. Every day in your life is a special occasion". _party_0 -
As with any heating in a hard water area, you don't know what damage is being done until it is too late - check you kettle for a rough guide.
However, we install a scale inhibitor to every combi system we do as standard, we normally work in a hard water area so it is a safe bet the boiler will be better off with it.
Try and research a HS34 by a company called Hydroflo - they are great scale inhibitors and even claim to work to reduce scale in existing systems.
From personal experience, the feedback I have got from them has been great, even helping someone with a skin complaint!
There is also no plumbing required, just clip round your incoming mains and plug in - it works on changing the molecular structure of the water and scale - scale will still form but the crystals can't stick to each other and therefore produce what we see as scale.0 -

Not sure about it myself. If it really did work then I would get one, but all sounds a bit too similar to the magnets in your car engine that make you use less fuel?!?!?

that's the ones, as with most of these things, some say they work some don't notice it and say they don't. All I can do is give you my personal feedback - the best one was the overnight benefit one guy got with his skin condition.
But the best scale inhibitor of all is a water softener of course.0
