Travelodge Heathrow Terminal 5 & Thorpe Park

We're going to Thorpe Park at the end of the month and the only hotel that could accommodate 3 people is the Travelodge at Heathrow Terminal 5 (at a reasonable price anyway!)

I know the rough mileage between the two, but wondered if anyone knew if it was difficult to get to? We'll be staying there one night, so will be leaving Thorpe Park before 5pm on the Thursday night to go to the hotel and then back again the following morning (we'll probably leave the hotel at 8:30-9:00).

I'm fine about driving to the park (we live in Devon, so it's a bit of a treck!) but am a little nervous about finding the hotel especially when it may be during rush hour. I do have a TomTom so 'he' can help me, but a rough idea would be nice.

Thanks for any help.

  • Why not punch the postcodes into the AA's route finder.

www.theaa.co.uk Scroll down and you can find it on the right. You can then view the route on the map and see how many road changes it is just to reassure you.

If you have a Tom Tom, I am sure it will be fine.

  • From Thorpe Park go towards Staines. At the large roundabout turn left (don't cross river into Staines). You will go past Sainsburys! Keep going to next large roundabout (Runnymede roundabout) and turn right which will be posted to the M25 (the road runs alongside the M25 to the junction. Get on M25 going north towards airport and come off at junction 14 where your hotel is sited. The traffic will be bad particularly at the Runnymede roundabout but there are traffic lights on the roundabout during the rush hour
  • Sorry that should have been ...go towards Statines. At the large roundabout turn 2nd left. It will be sighnposted A308 Windsor Egham and M25. You will go past Sainsburys! ...

Thank you :) I have looked on route planner etc. but it's nice to have a rough idea of the route before hand, it puts me at ease!!

I'll make a note of your directions onewom and my sister can navigate along with Mr TomTom (although she may divert me to Sainsburys by 'accident') :p Thanks again :)

We stayed at this travelodge not too long ago, it was very easy to find as its just the other side of the M25 from Heathrow Airport, the parking at the hotel was horrendous tho as the car park is not owned by the hotel, costs £5 to park overnight so make sure you have enough change for the ticket machine

    .....................
    Edit to add:

The pillows we had were really thin and i woke up with terrible neckache the next morning, so if possible i would suggest taking your own

Thank you :) I was thinking about parking as wonder what we'll do if there's no space?! I remember when I was booked into a hotel in Bristol for my old job and when I eventually found it, there was no space to park, I didn't know the area so ended up driving home :o

    I'll start collecting change now!

I'll let my brother and sister know about pillows, I always wake up with a sore neck anyway, so they might work in the opposite way...hmm.

Alternatively you can pay by debit/credit card over the phone using the automated system to Britannia Parking at no extra charge by calling the number on the car park machine.

The car park does tend to get full by 8-9pm and nearby choices are very limited due to the location of being adjacent an industrial park
  • could I ask how to get to the park via public transport from this travelodge?
  • how much would it cost in a taxi from this Lodge to the park as we will have no car. There will be 8 of us as well!!

According to worldtaximeter.com it would cost about £23.20 for a taxi journey from HR T5 to Thorpe park at weekends and this would be x2 if there were 8 of you. Looking at Public transport using the journey planner on www.tfl.gov.uk, from Heathrow T5 it would be bus 71 to Staines and from there another bus says 451 but better to get shuttle bus I would think. 1hour 15 minutes journey time on the buses from the airport.
