Tmobile phones for web browsing

Options
Hello, phone experts, I wonder if anyone could help me.

I wanted to change my T mobile Sim card only deal for a monthly contract phone, primarily because I wanted to be able to get a phone with unlimited web access and that could surf the web well.

My budget was £25 a month and I was torn between the Blackberry Curve 8520 (£25, unlimited text and net, Blackberry email thingy, 300 minutes) and the Samsung Galaxy Portal (£20, unlimited text and net, 300 minutes).

I plumped for the Blackberry. However, I've had it for a couple of days now and the web browsing is slow and fairly clumsy. After comparing the 2 phones on the net (yes, I know I should have done it beforehand!) I find that the Samsung has 3g connectivity and that the Blackberry has not.

So I want to know:

Firstly, how big a deal is 3G connectivity? Does it really make a big difference? I don't want to swap to the Galaxy Portal and realise it doesn't make much difference to web browsing. But if it does make a significant difference then I'd like to change the phone but I won't bother if doesn't. Has anyone got experience of surfing on both phones?

Secondly, if I wanted to change, is it easy to swap phones if you're unhappy with the one you've opted for. Like I said, I've only had the phone for a couple of days so I'm hoping there's a period of a few days where you can take it back and change it.

Thanks for taking the time to read.

I'm sorry I can't help with your question re changing the handset/plan, but if you can change your plan, you can get the Samsung Galaxy Portal on T-Mobile's £15 a month plan. You have to pay £36 for the phone, but otherwise the deal is almost identical to yours (and the phone pays for itself after 7 months on this plan), and you can choose the unlimited calls to landline flexible booster also.

I'm considering this deal myself, as for £15 pm it does seem good value.
  • Thanks, bbuckle. Will look into that this week.
