the 16x one will write to cd's and dvds and play dvds and cds whereas the other one will only write to cds and watch dvds. For the price difference I would recommend going with the dvd writer as it will allow you to back up more data.
XP proffesional is better but if you are a regular user just get home as you wont notice the difference. Ie if you just want to do the usual stuff like games and word process and web etc.
Where you buying the drive from and what price?0 -
the 16xdvd+/-RW can write to dvd rw discs, the cdrw/dvd-rom combo can't.
XP pro is better but if you're not bothered about the extras such as using pc as a server or easier networking facilities xp home does the job without any noticeable difference."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

It will write to writeable dvd discs, the combo can only play dvds."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Hi
If I had to choose between the 2, I would go for the D07515t, 19" monitor/dvd writer and a dedicated graphics card, although you do lose on mem, but thats easily upgradeable and pretty cheap.0 -
Thank you...I went for the other one...but I got 17'' monitor/dvd writer and a 256MB graphics...and I kept the memory...the guy I spoke to gave me a deal...if anyone wants his direct dial PM me..0
