Hello all, and good luck for upcoming weddings! I'm new here and am way ahead of myself because I have to 'patiently' wait until 2012 for my big day but have already started looking into ways of saving money! One of the idea's I had was to grow my own flowers for my May wedding in a corner of my dad's allotment. I will give it a trial run next year to see if it works or not then decide what to do for my wedding. I am going to go with seasonal blooms such as peonies and anemones....really wanted poppies but not sure how they would hold up in a bouquet... i guess i'll find out next year in my trial run, hehe. Anyways, good luck again, and I love reading all your info because there are so many great idea's i would never have thought of on this site.0

I'm having fresh, and the quotes are around £200 for:
Rose & orchid hand-tied bouquet for me
Rose wrist corsage for bridesmaid
Groom's rose & orchid buttonhole
4 rose buttonholes
Silk corsage for OH's mum
Hand-tied thank-you bouquet for Oh's mum
Top table arrangement
Roses for cake-top0 -
Well, i'm having a cascade bouquet for me, 2 wrist corsages for bridesmaids, 5 button holes and long table display all in white rose and cala lillies with red and black crystals and frilly bits, all for 150 pounds, which i didn't think was bad considering i went for the most expensive flowers in the shop!:jNow a married lady and loving it! Now..to clear that pesky mortgage! :beer:0

It seems as if real flowers will be cheaper than artificial. The bouquet I want is unusual and im not sure what it would look like with fake flowers. Ohh decisions decisions. Going to see a couple of florists on Saturday for some prices, etc. There are only two things a child will share willingly - communicable diseases and their mother's real age0

Im doing my flowers myself. Purchasing from either flowers4florists or triangle nursery. Flowers4florist have a minimum spend of £160ish and Triangle Nursery dont have a minimum spend but charge for delivery.
QUOTE]
I'm doing the same but making:
5 flower girl basets
10 table centers
Button holes - not sure how many
Corsage x 4
Chief bridesmaids bouquet
Not too sure about my own yet - I'll see how I get on!
Does anyone khow much triangle nursery charge for delivery?0 -

Triange is based on what you buy, i think you have to order and then they work out the postage.
If you're buying alot then it may be worth looking at Flowers4florists, their wholesale prices are generally cheaper than triangle nursery and postage is free.
If the postage cost at Triangle nursery is expensive it may make the minimum spend at Flowers4florists the cheaper option.
Email both for their pricelists (cheaper now mothers day is over!) and make some comparisions. Im sure if you ask triangle they'll give you a rough delivery costing.:jProud mummy to a beautiful baby girl born 22/12/11 :j0 -
I haven't yet spoken to florists, but have looked endlessly online for Picasso calla lilies (either artificial or real), the cream/white ones with deep purple interior, as I was hoping for these but haven't found any. Has anyone seen any during their searches or is anyone having these and has a rough idea of prices?MARRIED MR E - 22nd Dec 2010 - technically now sazzye!:j

Well the wedding date is getting closer and I still have to decide on flowers!
Could I ask what your flowers are costing and what you are getting for that price.
Just cannot decide on fresh or fake. Have had a quote for fake but interested on costings of real flowers.
Hi Shel,
I'm not a traditionalist per se, so when I said I was having roses for the wedding everyone knew it would be something...different.
We went WOODEN! Yes, you read that correctly.
For £40 I got 800 black and cream wooden roses from Ebay, delivered within 24 hours, it took me 5 hours to create 4 bouquets (I have no experience at all) and about 3 dozen table arrangements for the wedding.
We have fairly low level lighting in our reception venue (thankfully!) so any little mistakes will be easy to conceal...I still need to wrap the stems, but overall....they'll do.
Wood isn't for everyone, I know...but it's quirky enough and cheap enough for me and have to say, I love them! lol
Even Jason likes them... :T0 -
