Warning all tiscali broadband upgraders (even if it was a while ago)

I upgraded my broadband with tiscali in april. As I was paying £24.99 for a 1Meg line. £21.99 for 2meg and free calls seemed a good plan. It evenetually took two months to get changed over, but thats not the dodgy bit. Since the upgrade I have been checking my broadband speed regularly, and never got over 1 meg. I have also checked the phone bill, no free calls. I've just phoned tiscali they tell me that the upgrade was put through, but the network team cannot swap the line to a 2meg one as they have had a server crash for 3 months! (A bit implausible, to say the least.) They are allegedly giving me a refund as I have not been recieving the service I was paying for. WHEN I ASKED IF THAT MEANT THAT THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE WERE PAYING FOR SERVICES THEY WERE NOT GETTING THEY SAID "THAT IS CORRECT." Check your speeds everyone, you might be bieng ripped off. Don't believe what it says on the tiscali site, find an independant speed calculator such as http://specials.zdnet.co.uk/misc/band-test/speedtest500.html to test it.

Cheers, JJ, good post. I only have Tiscali broadband, not their phone deal. I upgraded a couple of months ago from 1MB to 2MB. Checked the speed using their speed calculator, but will double-check using an independent one when I get home tonight. Cheers again.
