Do I have to do anything to end 3g contract?

My 3g contract ends a month today. What happens do I have to inform them I wont be continuing the service or does it just end? I haven't had any sales call to ask if I want upgrade as yet but I wont be taking it after the terrible year with them. When can I get my pac code from them is it after disconnection or before? Plus I'm looking for a new contract I know I wont get as cheap as them but the reception is bad anyway so anyone got any suggestions? I have been on the 750 mins each month with added 200 txt with 3g I wanted similar but as cheap as poss

your contract continues until you tell them you are wanting to cancel. i'd imagine they are unlikely to ring up offering anything as currently you'll be still paying their tarriff next month and they won't have to provide a new phone. If you ring up to cancel however they will probably be spurred into action. However seeing as you want to leave your best bet is to ring and request your PAC(DON'T just say you want to cancel or you could lose your number as if a contract is cancelled without a PAC being issued/used the number is normally lost and reaasigned)

If your contract is anything like mine you can give them the disconnection notice 6 weeks ago,call them up 2 twice to confirm that they have got the message about you leaving them and still i have not been disconnected!!!
My contract should have ended on 23/01/05 and its still going!!

Did you get your pac code too? and what happens there then will you get a bill for the extended time your with them that you did'nt request? Have you cancelled your direct debit with them? and was it india or scotland you spoke to?

Also anyone:
How can we have proof of ending contract when it's over the phone? Its a month today so if I did it by Royal mail it would prob be too long and I've heard lots of people saying they don't even respond to those. I think I heard some crazy thing about 3g charging for emails also now? is that true anybody?

How much time do I have to give them is a month today enough? I'll be glad to get out of this nightmare contract. If I cancelled today would they leave me connected for the final month which ends on 24th Feb I'm assuming, as my free mins and texts always start on 25th of every month even though my phone was connected on 18th Feb last year they started it from 25th

I want to do this right... Any advice on how to do it best, which one to phone scotland or india and if so whats the numbers and exactly how to go about it?

And if I request my pac code today and get disconnected on 24th feb how do I go about that because I thought I had to use my pac within a month or lose it?

No,I didn't get a PAC code as i have cancelled all together now with that phone. I already have another 3 phone that has had a number ported form O2 that i had for 6 years.
I was told not to cancel the DD as there will be a final bill sent and then another statement will be sent of the account (I think)to show that there is no balance outstanding.
I spoke to both India and Scotland and put my foot in it! It is good to speak to people in Glasgow as you can understand them and vice versa,unfortunatly i spoke to an Asian with a Scottish accent and they were not happy when i said "It's great to speak to a Scottish person!"

I rang today and thought I'd have to be holding on forever but I think I was lucky as it was all done in about 5 mins. At first I got through to india CS and they put me through to an Indian lady who tried to persuade me to go for an upgrade but the offers are pathetic compared to what they give new users. I said thankyou but no I'd made my mind up and wanted to give notice of cancellation. She told me I'd be disconnected on 16th which was totally wrong so I questioned that and she put me through to Glasgow, the guy there was fine about it. All very quick and told me I'd be disconnected on 25th Feb which should be right. He said I'd get a conformation letter nearer the date so I'll post it to let people know if that goes smoothly. If I don't recieve the letter by the 20th or something I'll ring back. So now I'm going to be looking round for a new contract. I didn't mention the pac code yet as I didn't want them to cut me off now I thought I'd wait to see if theres any info in the letter about that

I'll be hot on your heels, but I have signed for a new three/o2 contract, this time round I will be getting the phone unlocked straight away and then setting for 2G (02) only

Just to let you all know.I have just finished a night shift and after calling again to the CS in Glasgow,i still have NOT been disconnected.
I think that another phone call to the Muppet's is in order.
Will keep you all posted.
