I got a letter from virginmobiles advising of a deal they have on offer till the 29th March. It is a SIM only deal.

It seems a good deal, does anyone know anything about it?

As it is a SIM only deal, will a virgin SIM card fit any phone?

thank you.

My current phone is a sony W2900i

The phone would have to be unlocked for the Virgin SIM to work.

This 'offer' they have got on has been around since September... they keep extending it for a month every month! It's a good deal though, I have the £15 500 mins 3000 texts

Is there a way I can unlock it for free, virgin say the following:

"Just give your existing network a call and tell them you want to switch. You may need to give them one month’s notice and pay an unlocking fee of £35 or more. Next your provider will give you a code. Simply type it into your phone. A couple of seconds later, your phone will be unlocked and ready to go!"

Also, do the SIMS virgin give you fit any type of phone?

    thanks

Have you tried a different SIM in your phone, not all phones are locked? If it is locked then you will probably have to pay a fee to unlock it whether the fee is to your current network or to a unlocking shop.

All SIMs from all networks are the same size at the moment, although that will change when the Apple iPad 3G version is available here.

Not sure where you live usely go to the local market and ask someone were. There is always a shop in local towns where it can be done. We are on the virgin deal very good although you can get the same with O2. If you can get by with lower usage get a phone as well from virgin?

Corner shops are normally a good source for pay as you go SIMs. Shouldn't be more than £1 or £2
