Well I am seriously annoyed that my house is on Street View...

...As you can quite clearly see the bog roll mountain in the window of our bathroom...makes it look like I have a bog roll fetish :D

That reminds me of that coupling episode...

I sent my friend a link to her house and the little sideroad, on which you could see her 2 kids rollerblading...

Kids are now grounded as they are not allowed up that side road and swore blind they never go on that road...until my friends showed their kids the evidence they have been up the road LOL
  • I managed to find my uncles house on Street View and I was taken aback, as I thought it would be an area that wouldnt be covered..... Was kinda awesome to see it though, but also worrying at the same time. I have found my house and my dads house, but its still worrying!

I love it,, Our road has only just gone on it although the pictures are over a year old,,you can see my dog in the window! :)
  • I think street view is awesome, i am looking to buy a house and we can now look at the street to see the rest of it and thafully the house that we liked, we saw it was in a rough street!

People are being so paranoid, as posted before, whats to stop me from going outside your house and taking photo's and videos and there is nothing you can do it! Seriously people, burgulars are not going to use google street view to scope your house out.

I am aware people can walk past my house, although they may find it a tad difficult to drive past it.. thats one of the reasons I chose to live here.

However it would be rather difficult for someone to stand out side for an hour or walk up and study my window locks etc without going unnoticed.. but they would be able to do this easily with google street view...

They could take pictures but again its something that would be noticed especially by the old dear who sits in the window opp lol

If they are that likely to notice an 'outsider' in the street, then they'd have no trouble spotting someone when they were trying to break into your house.

    Problem solved.

I seriously doubt it will have any usefulness for a potential burglar.

Apart from burglars being opportunists, there is no indication of when a house is occupied or vacant, who lives there or what items of value are within the premises.

This is something a burglar takes into account whenever they randomly select a house, usually as a result of an open window, or signs that they are not going to be disturbed.

If a house is specifically targeted, either as a vendetta or assurance of wealth and valuables, the burglar will.

    A) Already know where the house is, without the need of the internet.
    B) Be determined enough to break in regardless of already known security measures
(still without the need of the internet for any tips).

There really is no need to get paranoid about something so trivial, if your house is fated to get burgled, it will happen without google's help.

It would be interesting to see if any burglars are caught out on Google committing the crime during the photograph. But thats really the nearest connection Google Street View will ever have to any burglary.
