3 Add on Internet Max £5 - Some Q's

I have just started last mth of existing contract which doesn't include internet. I have given my 30 day notice yesterday to go PAYG.
Prior to that I took out a new contract on the HTC Hero when on offer couple weeks ago. I have delayed the activation of that sim (which includes internet) so as not paying for two phones.I was told I could use new phone with old sim for now but she showed me how to set data roaming to 'never' so I wouldnt incur any internet charges for this inital period.
So far so good.
Only, my data useage is slowly creaping up and is now ~£5 - not significant to many but I was told it would cost me anything internet wise. All I have done is go into Planet 3 to check how my costs are creaping up.
So now wondering if I'd be cheaper just doing an add on for this last month as I will know the costs up front, and in the circumstances I may as well have access to internet at the same costs as I've incurred over last few weeks for supposedly NOT being able to access it. Hope that makes sense.
Q's are
If signing up for internet max, can I do it as 1 month or will 3 continue to bill me each month i.e. almost like a contract?
Will it be instantly active?
Would I be safer doing the internet max rather than cheaper add on?
Thanks for perservering!

If your mins/texts is low usage, you might be better with 3 Pay and Go.

£10 top lasts 90 days and you get internet free with it.
Basically top up every 3 months.0 -

Thanks OneADay - sorry if I waffled above but I have only given 30dy notice to go PAYG to enable me to move the number to new contract already taken out. I dont actually intend to use the current phone/sim on pAYG after that. Thanks tho for your input.
I was more querying the 'sign up' time etc on the add-on (which I think I have now found to be continual on your account until you cancel the add-on - something you cant do until after first 30dys so would from that think I would end up with even more costs after going to PAYG and not using that SIM.If only I could stop finding good bargains on this site, I would save a fortune! :rotfl:0 -
That's about right - misread your question I think.
Bolt ons last 30 days, cancel any time but have to pay up to the full 30 day period.
Isn't your new contract active already though ? - once a phone is delivered to you the sim is normally activated within 24-48 hours.0 -
OneA|Day, the new phone was bought instore and they were able to put a delayed activation on it of 28 or 30 days (cant remember which!).So careful working out meant no double monthly payment.
I understood the add on was for 30 days but from what your saying I may be able to cancel it straight away after that 30 days without encurring another months costs?(i.e. when I wont be using the phone anyway)If only I could stop finding good bargains on this site, I would save a fortune! :rotfl:0 -
I see.
Well from my experience, I added an internet bolt on for o2 once. I wanted it for 30 days only and I told them so. They said I can phone up and ask to cancel any time I like.
So I used the internet for a bit and basically before 30 days are up, I confirmed that it will be cancelled at next billing date (I was on a monthly contract at time). So I paid £7.50 for the month and that was it.
Unlike mobile contracts, you do not need to give 30 days full notice to cancel add ons (that is my experience at least).0 -
Thanks very much OneADay - it sounds like it maybe worth asking in 3 shop today (like to be informed before asking in there if poss. hence asking on here).
Help was much appreciated. If only I could stop finding good bargains on this site, I would save a fortune! :rotfl:0
