I have a similar problem - but don't understand all the tech-speak

I've bought an mp3 so that I can listen to my own choice of music when I'm on the plane or jogging. However, I'm over 21 and don't understand any of the technology.

I've managed to download some free tracks from the web and was feeling v. pleased with myself. Now trying to get some favourite tracks from CDs that I bought in the shops here - which are .cda types.

My mp3 instructions say I don't need any special software to download music - just copy and paste as a normal file. This doesn't work. Just puts a .cda file on my mp3 - other music files are .mp3

Tried to rip a track using V10 media player - says I need to buy some special software and all help from Windows points to US sites with payment in dollars.

I know I'm new to this - but what do I do now (short of wait until the shops open and take the mp3 player back)?

    Many thanks.

You need to do what the poster above did and rip the tracks with dBpowerAmp. download this http://www.dbpoweramp.com/bin/dMC-r10.exe
You need to copy mp3 files onto your mp3 player!
