OS Daily Thread - Saturday 13th March

Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Saturday 13th March. It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good.
HSINhouseWindow02HL.gif Morning lovely OS-ers! wave.gif
esmf - Hope your MIL is doing as well as she can do.
Lowesy - Still in my thoughts honey and sorry to hear about your brothers job.
Essex - I will come out and admit I love my squidgee too and it never leaves the bathroom.
kazzaw - hope your strange day of two halves went well.
MMM - hugs honey
csarina - Thank you again, I think I finally got it!
remmie - I truly wish my mother and/or sister would sit down with me too.. I miss my nephews so very much.
Rachel - hope you had a great time at the hotel and happy belated birthday to your OH
Taplady - Yayy!! So pleased it passed.
Snoozer - Do what you are told young lady and rest and don't do daft things like changing bedding!! Let others look after you for a change.
Sunnyday - I often play that trick on my OH by telling him I have already done something and checking to see what his reaction is before either doing it or saying I was just teasing!! giggle.gif
If you love horses or just to be impressed.. watch this performance on Youtube all the way through to the end. It's a good song too lyrically.
Thank you all for the positive vibes for my meeting yesterday. I am not sure if it did any good at all really as one of the first points mooted was that I was not to have false hope as nothing may change and very probably wouldn't. However, I think I was able to elucidate on the notes I had made and give my views. They were here for nearly 2 hrs.
HShungry.gifBrunch will be yoghurt and fruit and bacon sandwiches and dinner will be beef and mushroom pies and roast potatoes with green beans and sprouts.
I hope everyones day goes well and that anyone feeling poorly feels better. With love and light for all.

    Morning everyone.

Busy day again I think. Want to pop to Mr S before the electrician gets here at 10 -10.30. Then me and the kids are off to a friends house this afternoon for coffee and cake :D
In between all that I might get some OS done. Could do with some more biccies so twinks I think are in order as they are so quick to make. Not sure about tea......ought to consult the planner really. Need to try and get some washing done, beds need to be stripped etc As we're off to the parade tomorrow I won't have time (or the inclination ;)) to get anything done so today is my only day to make some headway.

For those of you who are interested the new free seeds for BBC's Dig-in are now available to apply for. A whole different set this year :T including some basil. Good job as I ALWAYS kill my basil plants - just not very successful at keeping those alive for some reason

Diva - fingers crossed your meeting has the outcome you want xx

Sistercas - in my day it was called end of year disco :rotfl: Sounds these days as yet another excuse to throw more money down the drain  My kids are gonna hate me when they get older :rotfl:

Hugs to those that need them. Have a good day OS Or not.

    Good morning guys,

Well he came, he saw and he fixed :T:rotfl::rotfl: and now I have running hot water again. It seems that I was accurate in my recollection of what I was told when we bought the place as when the front of the boiler came off the installation date was on it - 12 years ago. However the boiler man says not to worry just yet about replacing it but has thrown some tips my way for the future. It is now covered for a year and then I will look at some sort of plan to cover it for the future. I really want to get the double glazing in first and other jobs before that gets on to my list but time will tell.

The eldest was off yesterday as he was feeling out of sorts with the runs and was very pale and LO got in to trouble again for biting a girl!! It turns out that she was seen smacking him first but that really is no excuse, so he didn't get his hour on the ps or his chocolate treat for being good and had a lecture off mum. Dd has a friend staying over and they didn't get off until 11.30 last night despite a few rather pointed comments from me. I think it was the 'if you lot don't pack it in now the next sleepover will be when you are 20 and living somewhere else' comment that finally did it.;)

Today I want to potter about in the garden, the forecast is for sun - let's hope it appears over here soon, the usual swish, swipe and hoover later, yesterday's uniforms will need an iron and I want to get my pennies book up to date. Lunch will be baked pot and beans, quiche and wedges for tea.

Hugs to anyone who needs one today and I hope you all have a good day.

    Morning all
I only seem to find time to post at weekends at the moment, partly because by the time I get home & cook tea I ready for my bed, lol.
I was given a basket of violas yesterday by the staff as a thank you for working so hard over the last few weeks, it's nice to know it's appreciated.
We're having Mothers day today as 2 of my kids are working Sunday, so I'm cooking Roast Turkey for 10 today.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester.

    Morning all

It's beautiful and sunny here again! Almost a week of sunshine we've had now :) Outside my window is an oasis of calm. The water in the dock is completely still, 4 swansa are gliding round it, tide is out so I can see just the sand, and no-one to be seen yet! :D

I was up at 7am which annoyed me a tad as I was soooooo tired yesterday, but I had a good sleep so I'm okay about it now. I've decided not to go to the book club meeting today, I've not finished the book and, to be honest, I don't really like one of the girls who goes so I'm not wanting her to spoil my good mood today!

Today is Ireland V Wales in 6 nations so I'm meeting friends in the pub to watch it this afternoon. I'm getting the train in so I can have a few drinkies  but I'm not planning on being out all day - got things to do and not much money to waste on booze!

I haven't got a Mother's Day gift sorted yet. I'm getting my mum some terracotta plant pots from Morrisons but they were too heavy to get in week and leave in car so will pop there tomorrow on way to visit her. I'll have to co-ordinate the visit around the Grand Prix :rotfl: I can't wait for the new season!!

    Have a good day all

    Morning all

Big Drive out today! got a 200 mile round trip to do 3 jobs but the pay is decent and that's what counts at the minute!

I've remembered to take my tablet last night and this morning (which is good for me!) and have put some brufen gel on my achilles (sp?) tendons which has eased the pain almost instantly. Think I'll be keeping that in my handbag! Got terrible 'knee lock' during the night but i've found if I get my other foot underneath it I can push it up which frees it.....the things you do!

I read a little about rheumatoid arthritis last night and the symptoms do sound a lot like I have had but i didn't read too much. My main concern at the moment is being able to continue working and I have managed for the last six months and have had some days where I have struggled to get out of bed but I do find once I'm up and about i'm ok ish so hopefully I can continue.

Sorry for rambling - just worrying 'out loud' a bit !

    Have a good day

    Good Morning All

    Its the weekend :j

Sistercass - well done to DD :T

    Diva - :rotfl:us and our squeegee's!

Off in a little while as need to drop a van off at mechanics. Will treat myself to a nice coffee whilst out. Been having van driving lessons so that if we get some more van work I could help out.

Picked up the M&S Mothers day meal yesterday - got beef. We will be having that Monday as probably will eat out tomorrow, only somewhere like KFC. Will go back to M&S Monday to see if they have any reductions (did last year). Also got the American Cheesecake which I am looking forward to later.

Ironing this afternoon, going to get all the uniform sorted so I don't have to do anything tomorrow if I don't want to.

Can't remember what is on the meal plan - will have a look in a minute.

    Have a great day.x

    Morning All,

Babysat for DGS last night as DD went out to see her friends and have a girlie evening (we were going to the pics but she got a better offer) but I didn't mind at all. I feel she needs time to talk to her friends at the moment:) He didn't wake up once. What a little angel:A

DS3 is full of a cold at the minute but managed school all week. This is an important time and he had quite a bit of time off just before Christmas with one thing and another. Will leave him to have a well deserved lie in.

It was funny last night, my crochet slippers, which have been ridiculed I might add ,were in demand. DH had them on most of the evening and said they were very comfy and would I crochet him a pair in black :D
They have stretched on his big feet and are too big for me this morning. Will have to get the crochet hook out:rotfl:

Out for a meal this evening so the kids are fending for themselves out of the freezer but I will be making Anzac biscuits and possibly something with Weetabix, so all very oaty in our household.

Have a good day peeps x
