Now i am rid of the 3 mobile broadband contract I am having to top up my dongle. As I've always been on contract I'm a little confused.
I got £10 credit with the PAYG sim card, and went to my3 to load it on to my dongle.. all was well, but am I supposed to do something to convert it with the addon button?
Sorry if this is confusing. Sure I've read somewhere on here you have to convert it, but can't find a thread in search

Yes you have to convert it to an addon, or you will be charged the per Mb rate which will eat up your topup, just go to the addon section, choose the internet category and choose the one you want.
A better way to do payg mobile broadband is to get a 3 mobile sim card, not the broadband sim, as you can buy the 'unlimited' mobile internet addon for £5 a month that gives you around 2gb of use compared to the £10 mobile broadband addon that gives you 1gb, the mobile internet addon isn't available on the mobile broadband sims.
If you havent got a mobile sim you can request one here

You topup in the usual way, but in my3 it will have more internet addon options,
daily rate for 50p, weekly rate for £2.50 and the monthly rate for £50 -
Yeah - you need to convert it to an addon to get the full 1GB mobile broadband data - if you don't you end up with a lot less data.0

I *think* i have a 3 mobile sim card - as my contract sim stopped working as soon as they ended my contract, I went in to a 3 shop and bought a 3 PAYG sim, the lady told me it should work in my dongle, and it has.
I also think I saw the option you mention in my3 when I credited my £10, but assumed it was just for three phones only. So I just choose the internet option>internet monthly? and for £5 I will get internet all month? sorry I'm a little blond today LOL:j £2 coins = £2.00 :j0 -
yes with the £5 option you get internet usage for a month, well up to a certain limit, Im not sure at what point the fair use policy kicks in because Ive heard people go up to 4 or 5 gb without being cut off.
But I do know you can go to at least 2gb.0 -
when I was on my contract I was using about 3gb a month, so that will be good for me and saves me money. So I register a card and then check the internet monthly option? Thanks, you've been v helpful and v money saving:j £2 coins = £2.00 :j0

Yep choose the internet monthly £5 option
You don't have to register a card if you don't want to, you can just buy the topups in a shop and just type the voucher in.
The monthly addon doesn't automatically renew every month so you will need to add it when it runs out, it lasts fo.r 30 days0 -
Ok another stupid q's do I take the card that my sim was attached to the shop to top up? I can't find a seperate card:j £2 coins = £2.00 :j0

most networks have done away with the topup swipe cards, now most shops just print the voucher code on the till spit.
Theres no need to take any cards with you, just ask at the till for a 3 topup voucher to the value you require and they will print one off.
Take it home, login to my3 and go to the topup by voucher section type the voucher code in and your good to go.0 -
sorry you're been very helpful and I'm been very dumb
Can I get £5 vouchers so I can get the £5 addon or will I have to get a £10 voucher and how does that work with the £5 addon.
Sorry my brain is slow today as a result of a lingering migraineI do appreciate your time and patience

I think the minimum with 3 is a £10 topup.
When you buy the addon you will just be left with a balance of £5 just like on a normal mobile phone, which you can use for the following month, I dont think the topups expire within a certain time with 3.0
