Wow how do you all manage to spend so little.
2 Adults £ i mean 3 children and my weekly spend is about £55 which i thought was good as it was over £100 at one time. This don,t inc cloths, shoe ect but me and the other half hardly ever have new stuff unless it's a bargain off this site.
Count me in what do you all think my weekly spend should beNumber 4 due 21st jan0 -
Count me in. Now I can finally log in to MSE. £40 -45 a week for 5 people.Life's a beach! Take your shoes off and feel the sand between your toes.0

Lyn £55 is good for 5 people, maybe try £10 less and see how you get on. Its no problem if we dont meet the challenge, but it helps people like me focus on what I'm doing rather than going in putting stuff in the trolley and hey ho its £100!“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0

I have enjoyed reading this thread and have decided not to take up the challenge as such but just try to make stuff instead of buying it and using uo things I already have.
Started this morning by trying to make my own bread and have soup in the slow cooker."This site is addictive!"
Wooligan 2 squares for smoky - 3 squares for HTA
Preemie hats - 2.0 -
Thats ok Elona, I could still certainly learn from everyone whether they are taking part in the challenge or not.
I'm being really sad and doing my shopping list on Tesco.com, will print it out and go and do the shopping in the store tomorrow as I have coupons to use.“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0 -

Trying to feed one person on £80 for the month. The challenges for me will be:
(i) I have expensive taste
(ii) I am no good at planning ahead and end up making enough for four and wasting things
(ii) This will include my lunch at work everyday as well
Will let you know how I get on with the challenge
Are you sure you aren't my clone??! I am also trying to feed myself on £80 per month but have expensive tastes & am hopeless at organising meals in advance. We'll have to swap notes!0 -
lol@ nabowla
I blame my parents and a decadent student life style! Now I have a mortgage and a job, I can't seem to make ends meet at the end of the month!!!
Well, I know it's not Feb just yet, but started 'practising' last night/today. Made risotto with storecupboard ingredients. Ate half for dinner and took other half to work today for lunch - yummy. Tonight is spag bol and I am making enough for the freezer too.r.mac, you are so wise and wonderful, that post was lovely and so insightful!0 -
I used to spend over £100 a week for me, hubby and our dog. Now I spend £40 a week on me, hubby and our dog. What am I doing wrong or am I doing well enough? By the way this includes all food, cleaning products and dogs food and treats (Smackos) but not clothes or anything else!0

I read somewhere( probably here!) that £10 per person per week was a reasonable amount to spend on food. I have been able to cut it down even further by going to the supermarket fortnightly and walking to the local shops for fruit and veg as I need them. This cuts down on waste and it is amazing how little I actually need ,as opposed to want, when I have to carry it back0

Same hereI thought I was doing well keeping to around £40 a week. It doesnt help that hubby like meat and 3 veg every night, and woe betide me if I served him sausages at any time other then breakfast. Looks like Im going to have to have a good read of these forums and see where I can make savings
