I wonder if you can inspire me?
I want to purchase a scooter for my son (DD has her eye on his Microlite three wheeler)!
My husband isn't keen on another scooter and just wants to get him a small token.
I am torn, it is his first proper year of being so excited.
He has put on a little list,
A nice day out
A present for his little sister
Something Ben10
He will be getting loads of Ben 10 from his friends when they come to his party.
Can anyone inspire me, around the £30 - £40 mark other than a scooter. I want him to have a lovely present. He will be getting a nice day out, and a big cuddle for thinking of his sister.
Thanks

He put a present for sister on his list?? That is so adorable! What a lovely son you have.
But I can't help, mine is only ickle, hope you have a great party!:wall:0 -
What a lovely boy to think of his sister!
I am thinking of a scooter for my boy's 5th and I've noticed that the other boys in reception has scooters with 2 wheels instead of 3. Would a 2-wheel scooter be a 'big boy' scooter rather than 'just another scooter'? You can get ben 10 scooters if you want it to be 'special'.52% tight0 -
i suggest nothing
1) it would be a surprise
2) it something he has not got
3) he will be happy with anything he gets at Christmas
4) it doesn't run on batteries
5) he cannot break it and get upset
6) its does not get in the way
On a serious note, if he REALLY wants a nice day out, give him that and take some money along, so he can buy a little thing there. maybe also let have a disposable camera (fairly cheap) and let him use it in the day, then you can extend the gift to having it developed, putting up the pictures on a wall, etc. It is often days out he will cherish and remember, and not toys.
If you want to keep the excitement you can build that into how he finds the day out 'tickets' or a map to the location.
so 30 pounds could be
disposable camera and development = 8 pounds
12 to spend while he is out on a toy, or such
and as an extra gift, a new money box (costs say 5) with 5 shiny pound coins. I remember as a kid loving shiny new coins like they were worth twice as much............... Have you ever wondered what

When my DD has a big party she gets a smaller gift, so I can see where your DH is coming from.
Two wheel fold up scooters only cost £10 though, so it wouldn't be breaking the bank, and because they fold up they can be taken on holiday etc...

Ask him what he means by a nice day out, he may mean something you wouldn't normally do.
I know my DD has ideas of where she wants to go that isn't always what you would think.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -

He absolutely loves scooting, and having just the one scooter is starting to cause problems between the siblings. Plus the 3 wheeler is starting to look babyish being in Year 1 they are now all on 2 wheels.
I love the plan for the day out, but would still like to give him a wow to open on the day. He goes in to school on his birthday and they are all really in to boasting about the wow they get from their parents, so don't want him to go in saying I got a day out!0 -
if he loves his scooter and he loves ben ten then i say get him a scooter why not try one of these they have the character toys hidden inside as well

It is a little pricey for an inline scooter but if you shop around you will probably find it cheaper elsewhere :-):jFriends are like fabric you can never have enough:j0 -
We got ds a ben 10 scooter for his 6th birthday, not one of the ones with the hidden toys think it was only about £10-15 from B&N0

Its a shame you feel that you have to compete - but i understand. I personally was very jealous of kids who went further than Wales for their holiday. But when i look back, the time i spent with my parents were more important.
Maybe you could get an ebay or freecycle scooter to resolve that matter - it being 2nd hand less important. and depending on the day out you may get that factor; Kids love to boast - I am going to feed whatever animal.....
Have you decided yet?
PS I have a feeling that Counting Pennies will give in to maternal side and spend loads, ignoring hubby... just a hunch............... Have you ever wondered what
