I am fuming! £310 for a bloody pergola, yes Toby I am glad you are enjoying spending our license fee. Think I am going to stop watching Gardeners' World, he does my nut in!

    chill. :)

not worth the vexation. I rather the BBC spend £310 on a pergola (wood only) than millions on salaries and new offices which the beep does so well. It is for sweet smelling eyecatching roses.

They should have got some old pallets from the local builders merchants. And knocked one together with some six inch nails......:D

Ahh yes geoff was definately a "knock it up from recycled items in me shed" kind of man.

We grew our sweetpeas and beans last year up a wigwam made from some trees that had self seeded themselves amongst a lelandii hedge we have (think they are birch not sure). But there are alot of trees around here as we are semi rural. This looks good and natural and is best of all free. Its still standing after winter so will move it into another bed for our rotation and use it again.

One of my problems with the current "gardeners world" is the amount spent on things, look at the greenhouse and the vast walled area not to mention the raised beds.

Would rather see alice and joe on a smaller scale say one in an average sized garden, one on a lottie and see what they would do. That field could have been split al la G hamilton style in to average sized plots/gardens and a different style done in each.

ok who has a pergola, how much and do you have a photo? I was thinking of erecting one as I have been growing my own roses from cuttings all winter.

yeah I know. I guess he is use to the price of chelsea show gardens which are actually shocking. £250,000 for a garden.

so it's not just me then? I got mad last year when he made the eclectic shed using reclaimed stuff which he paid a fortune for. I find his presenting style a bit smarmy too. Bring back Monty bless him:A

well after sky+'ing mine to watch in peace and quiet with a cuppa ........ I ended up fast forwarding the whole episode! Toby's voice grates me beyond belief, the other chaps is not much better and the lady in Devon has me reaching for the mute button and subtitles!

Nothing on fruit or veg this week...boring...boring....boring!:(

Sometimes I think a programme separate to GW, JUST about growing fruit and veg would be good. Maybe Monty and Tichy could co-present!!!
2009 - Attempting to grow my own Kitchen garden..... :o did it!!!
2010 - Attempting to make my garden a beautiful place for dd2 to enjoy!
