'Network Lock' and 'Unlockaing A Phone'
Options
Is there a difference between 'network lock' and 'unlocking a phone?' Here's where I'm coming from.
During the week I shifted mobile supplier from Virgin PAYG to Vodafone contract.
My phone, Samsung G600 was locked to the Virgin network. I fiddled about a bit and according to the Vodafone helpdesk got the Vodafone Sim activated. So I'm assuming that somewhere along the line the phone became 'unlocked.'
Now, however, when I go to turn on the mobile I am presented with a message 'Network Lock' with a space to enter a password. Virgin want to charge me £15 to obtain this password, is there anyway I can obtain it for free.
I've carried out a search on Google but can't seem to pin anything done. Anybody help?

The unlock code is based on the IMEI so even if you find a code on the net it won't work.
Also beware of any code unlocks for Samsungs. It used to work on older models but on newer one they'll change the IMEI to all zeros which will stop it working on any network (all zeros is an invalid number).
A phone shop could unlock for you for between 5 and 10 quid, I'd have thought...0 -
Virgin, pile of Gangsters, I've just phoned them and was prepared to pay the £15 they wanted to unlock the phone. Now the say it will take them up to seven days..they will certainly get no more of my business:mad::mad::mad:0

Did you try a highstreet shop? they can usually do it
This is why I always try and upgrade through external companies, e2 save etc, get a network free phone so no locks on it.0
