Can I ask DLA to re assess my care part only? I'm applying for voluntary work and going change my form. Aint going tell them the lot as I will get high again and stop me having a life!
A few things in the application form that I need to change. The communication aspect I placed down have problems filling in forums etc. I do at times however want that removed for example.
a few things. Getting to the point again of phoning and getting my claim shut down, feel as if it is a rpe around my neck. All for the sake of 89.00 a week!

Can I do it over the phone or need to fill in forms? DLA is another source of money. However by telling them everything and when like me, you don't want to be pinned down my health. DLA gets in the way.
Think for me it be best to close the claim. That way I don't have to worry about conflicting with DLA. Another excuse to allow ill health to keep a grip on me I think.
God knows my head is burling over this, yet again head burling over DLA!0 -
DLA shouldnt cause you this stres and ill health Bryando. It should support you to ease these things. I know you dont like mental health professionals but you really should speak to someone about this as it seems to be causing you lots of unneeded worry and distress.
Lots of us have told you how we work, do voluntary work and other stuff inspite of our disability and when recieving DLA and various rates. It's allowed and DLA and the other benefits agencies like this as it helps you get better. Getting out of the house, doing stuff for yourself even if with difficulty in the end helps you to stay steady and feel well in yourself.
When you read about people doing stuff they shouldnt while claiming benefits it's not usually people like you with a condition that fluctuates. It's often, for example, someone who claims DLA saying they cant walk or stand without lots of pain then is seen doing a job as a window cleaner climbing ladders and playing football in the park.0 -
Every detail in provide is true. However I feel that by doing say voluntary work at Cit Advice it would go against this.
For example needing held 7 days a week etc. I know you've said it does not mean I get this. However to me I feel I'm de frading if this makes sense? Could I phone and ask DLA if by say working with cit Advice would breach my DLA application?
So frustrating this. I've applied for a provisional driving licence also. My mind is telling me if I'm fit to get this then I should not get the DLA.
Honestly I hate the way I look so in depth to things! hate it!0 -
Yup ring CAB they will tell you it's ok to get involved in some voluntary work. Unless you claimed you can never leave the house or cant ever be in the presence of other people then you are not going against what you said in your claim for DLA.
The only reason you wouldnt be allowed to drive is if you claimed your illness did not allow it. Did you fill in the health declaration with your application for a licence?0 -

Many people receive DLA and drive. However, no idea how many of them have mental health problems.
There is nothing on the forms about being able to drive - would being able to drive still mean you need help outside for panic attacks and whatnot?Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

i've mental health problems and get dla and drive. i only drive along routes i know well, as getting lost causes me bad panic attacks, as does trying to park in small awkward spaces, in this case, i';d go home rather than risk bumping my car, which is my major panic when parkingenjoy life, we only get one chance at it:)0

Can't see how depriving yourself of much needed income is going to help you, Bryando. You get the extra money because you deserve it. You have to deal with voices and your worries, and that means you are entitled to that money. Doing a bit of voluntary work doesn't change what you have to deal with.
DLA can be paid whether you work or not, whether it is paid work or voluntary, so I don't think your doing voluntary work is defrauding DLA at all - you are putting your energy into worrying about something that you don't need to worry about.
It's hard to do it, but try and relax a little, Bryando, and have a good weekend.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -
I filled in the medical form for the DVLA. Have to wait for the decision. From what I have read on the DVLA web pages I should be ok as been fine for the last 6 months. However maybe my GP etc etc think different.0

If the DVLA docs say you can drive then you can drive legally regardless of what your doc or anyone else thinks.
However if you do not feel safe or comfortable doing do then dont. If at some point the law says I can drive I wont because I dont think it's worth the risk, but then thats me. Plenty of people with nocturnal or controlled epilepsy drive as do plenty of people with different mental health conditions.
Your call once the DVLA have had their say.0
