Help to appeal to my PCT

Hello
I have just been refused funding which would help my disabled daughter by our PCT and am going to appeal against their decision.

Does anyone know what or how I should do my appeal letter - I have the appeals process letter but am not sure whether to put EVERYTHING I want to say in my reply or just to precis it.

This is going to be a hard slog, I just know it!

thank you in advance/anticipation!!

You may want to try posting in the Disability & Dosh forum, http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.html?f=155

I would say put anything you think remotely relevant in an appeal, you generally can't be penalised for too much information, just make sure the key issues and points are clearly highlighted

I don't really know much about this, but my sister has just had a social worker assigned to her (long story) who is helping with her DLA appeal (she'd been refused 3 or 4 times over the years). The social worker said that she'd noticed that most people's initial application seemed to get turned down, as are subsequent appeals, and that you have usually got to take the matter to tribunal. She certainly implied that you have to be dogged, so if I were you I'd put everything into the first appeal and then 'precis' it in subsequent appeals etc, but whatever happens, don't give up.
  • Thanks guys.
    I won't give up don't worry!
As for posting this in Disability and Dosh - eek! I shall try.
    Appreciate you responding.

I would think there are lots of groups/forums for parenst of disbaled children, so I would see if you can join a few of those. It sounds like it would be useful to have someone to guide you through the process and there may be people who can do that. Good luck.

Try one of the organisations for your daughter's condition eg the MS Society or Scope. They're likely to know more about tactics which have succeeded in similar cases elsewhere, and the best arguments to use. Also try your MP, there's a forthcoming election after all.
  • You are all very helpful. I can't see the wood for the trees at the moment.
    thank you

I only deal with adults and CHC, but this probably applies! Do you know what catogories she didn't get awarded CHC in? You need to get a copy of the assessment process? Also do you have a social worker working for you at the moment?
:rotfl:Ahahah got my signature removed for claiming MSE thought it was too boring :rotfl:
