Most phone now carry a 2 years warranty, but the second year is with the manufacturer.0

Sale of Goods act says the the warranty is with the seller. The Seller may send it back to the maker but that does not mean the warranty is with the maker. The buyer has no contract with the maker, just the seller.
Back to the OP's question you need to read the paperwork that came with the repaired phone. It may have given x months or the rest of the original warranty preriod, whichever is the longer. Or it may have been a x months type warranty. You need to look it up.0 -
While I agree with gjchester (he's usually right on these matters).
It is sometime simpler to just send it to the manufacturer with proof of purchase. Yes, the network should fix it, but if the manufacturer's going to for free any way is saves having to get to the network just so they can send it to Nokia/Sony whatever.
My lads N85 died last week, sent to the local Nokia service centre and get in back Wends. No charge and fixed . . .0 -
I agree with Jon 01 you can shout at the phone retailer all you like but they don't care about the Sale of Goods Act. Go direct to an authorised Nokia Care point fonefix have a good website that tells you all you need to know0

They do care as you can sue them. They will try and make you do the work, to send it to the manufacturer, and get the manufacturer to take on the repair, but in the eyes of the law they are the ones liable no one else.
Whilst in most cases the manufacturer will be a faster route your contract *ALWAYS* is with the vendor. They are responsible for the warranty. They can say it's not there problem and they are not interested but thats just not true,0
