    My interpretation was that the OP upgraded RAM in an effort to speed up bootup time. However that won't help all that much if at all (as the OP seems to have found out).

    OP, correct me if I'm wrong.
  • The memory is fine. Happy running apps when machine is up. ( and it's faster than the 512mg ).

    Running the MS utility - it takes around 120 seconds to boot up.

    Running MSCONFIG - How do I permanently get rid of the items on startup. I untick them - and I get the MSCONFIG box popup on reboot - can't see how to permanently get them cleared up.

    When machine was new (16 months ago ) - bootup time was around 30 seconds. - Just seems to get slower and slower with age.

    Mind you McAfee probably isn't helping much.

    msonfig boot up screen can be stopped by ticking the box on boot up

    Check the Don't show this message box, click OK

    this leaves the changes that you made :)
