Here we go again. I mentioned that we were having something particular tonight at work and they were astonished: you mean, you know what you're having before you get home??? As always, catering for two out-and-out meat eaters who like spicy stuff (aka the grownups), a child who likes easy-to-eat meat but won't chew, and a child who eats fish but not meat. Neither child will eat spicy.
Sat - an early mothers day meal. It will be a seafood platter involving a variety of different fish/shellfish, including prawns, squid, mussels and white fish goujons, served with an aioli and a chilli/ginger/soy dipping sauce. There will be crusty bread, a green salad and maybe some chips for the boy. Pudding will be cherry clafoutis.
Sun - potato & gammon bake, green veg (potato & cheese bake for DD) [gammon in freezer]
Mon - pork steaks in creamy apple sauce, mashed potato, green veg (with veg sausages for DD) [have the pork already]
Tues - vegetarian pasta dish of some sort, green salad
Wed - OH cooks, probably smoked fish soup & crusty bread [need to buy fish for this]
Thurs - vegetarian frittata & salad [what goes into it will depend on what we have]
Fri - fishfingers & chips for children, mackerel in moroccan spices & couscous with chickpeas & apricots for adults [we already have all these ingredients]Mortgage started on 22.5.09 : £129,600Overpayments to date: £3000June grocery challenge: 400/6000 -

Change of plan for me as what I thought was a ham joint is actually pork - nice, but not really suitable for what I had planned. :mad:
Fri - gardener's pie
Sat - [STRIKE]roast ham hock with lentil and veg stew[/STRIKE] slow roasted pork with lentils and root veg
Sun - [STRIKE]ham, leek and stilton pizza[/STRIKE] hot roast pork sandwiches with hash browns and salad
Mon - [STRIKE]savoury ham (bacon) roll with celeriac and mustard mash[/STRIKE] Thai pork and veg curry with rice noodles
Tues - corned beef and potato pie (if the corned beef has survived its incarceration in the freezer - if it hasn't it will be cheese and potato pie
), with grilled tomatoes
Wed - beany bake with garlic bread topping
Thurs - prawn and veg chow mein
I'll have to fit in my savoury suet roll at some point in the next couple of weeks, as I'm not going to go without until next autumn! :rotfl:Back after a very long break!0 -
Got to pay for the service on the car this week (last year I would've just bunged it on the credit card but not this year as I've seen the light!) and unfortunately my hair appointment at the local college is tomorrow too (only costs £22 for a cut, colour & highlights though :T). Also got a couple of birthdays - so a really tight week shopping wise
, never mind, most meals are coming out of the freezer:
Saturday – Fish fingers, chippy chips & mushy peas (should've had this Friday night but things went slightly wrong on Thursday night
)
Sunday – Pork (YS in Co-op last week - done in SC), roasties, mash, broccoli, mashed carrots & parsnips, apple sauce & gravy. Victoria Sponge (hubby making the whole lot - even the cake!
)
Monday – Beans on toast (with poached eggs on top)
Tuesday – HM Salmon (tinned) pasta bake
Wednesday – HM Chicken & Chickpea curry (from freezer), rice, Naan bread & sour cream
Thursday – Jamie Oliver's Fish Pie with broccoli
Friday – Frying steak (YS in Co-op) in SC, mash, green beans & broccoli
Have a good week all x0 -
Last week went pretty much to plan! This week may switch around a bit if people come by to eat, but the plan is:
Saturday - dinner at friends house, yummy veggie curry!
Sunday - maybe beetroot and goat cheese rissotto, new recipie for me
Monday - butternut squash soup
Tuesday - vegetarian goulash, new for me as well!
Wednesday - Leftovers, probubly, or veggie shepherds pie
Thursday - vegie bolg pasta bake
Friday - leftovers
Nom nom! Also going to be better about sides and get some veggies, usually we just eat more of the main course which means less leftovers for lunches!Mortgage free by 30:eek:: £28,000/£100,000
