Mobile phone hoax call scam post 15th August 2009

I wrote on 15th august 2009 after my son had received a number of hoax calls which he promptly called back (9 x £2 plus vat). Calls were to number starting 070333 and was supplied by Cheers International Sales.To be fair though Cheers only sold the service to a third party company and it is they who have made the calls not Cheers.
I decided to contact Phone pay Plus who are an organisation which ensure premium rate phone companies stick to code of practice. Delighted to say that today I have received a letter from PP stating that CIC have been fined £15K and have received a formal reprimand. They have also been asked to refund cost of charges made for these calls.
I have now contacted Cheers and was told I will be refunded the money (lets wait and see).

While its great you got a result, a 15k fine is the equivalent of about an hours traffic for these people...
