PC Tools Firewall - pop up box on startup?!

(Apologies if this has been addressed elsewhere - a brief search has not shown up any posts which answer my queries. )

I have PC Tools installed on my laptop (running Vista). I've disabled Windows Defender, as the two don't seem to get along.

I think I have the most up to date version (but can check, if required). I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but get the same issue:

On Start-up, a box appears saying:

"New Network Detected
WORKGROUP
MAC Address: (a code here)
IP/Mask: (another code here)

Select a trust level for this network
Public/Home/Work (drop down box)

PC Tools recommends untrusted profiles for insecure networks
APPLY (button at the bottom)"

First: I don't know what this means! How is it detecting a new network every time? This is my home wireless connection - the same one every time! I haven't used the lappy outside home since installing PC Tools!

Secondly: Does this mean, as I've been told, that PC Tools isn't working correctly? Every time the box appears on Start Up, I check that PC Tools firewall is ON, and every time, it is. Should I be worried, or is it a quirk?

I'd be really grateful for some advice if anyone has any.
Thanks,
xx

Select HOME and then click APPLY. Let us know how that goes.

I do click APply, mainly because there's no other way to get rid of the box! There's no cross in the top right corner.

I haven't selected Home before clicking apply, so I'll try that the next few times and get back to you.

    Thanks for replying.

I had that the other day too. I just entered a name for the profile and applied and not seen it since.

    Right - update.
I've changed the Network choice to 'Home' every time - makes no difference. The pop-up still pops up on start up.

    Any more suggestions?
    Cheers.

May be covered on the link above but you will need to check the "Remember these Settings" (or words to that effect) box on the pop-up.
My very sincere apologies for those hoping to request off-board assistance but I am now so inundated with requests that in order to do justice to those "already in the system" I am no longer accepting PM's and am unlikely to do so for the foreseeable future (August 2016). :(

Done this - changed setting to supposedly have no pop-up box on detecting new network, and clicked remember these settings. Still getting the pop-up at least twice on start-up...

    Any other ideas peeps?
