Sky - couple of questions: linking to another room & recording

Hi again, thank you.
We've swapped the eyes around and both are working okay.
It's not a huge cable run though it is run under earth and brick/concrete for a short run - could this be the problem? Don't really understand how it can transmit the signal/programmes fine but not change the channels?
Will go and buy another end bit for the cable tomorrow and try changing that - fingers firmly crossed!0 -
You donot need to buy new end pieces just redo the ones that are allready there, at the eye connection and at the amp.0

Hi
Since posting above we've triple checked and re-done all of the cable ends but still haven't managed to get the Sky TV Link on the second TV to work.
Can't understand how it can bring a perfect picture and sound but will not allow us to change channels (works okay for the main TV and the second TV but not this third one).
The cable seems sound, it is a short run of cable.
We have tried swapping a known to be working Sky TV link for the one that is not working and have also tried a different TV. Still no success.
We've double-checked that RF2 outlet is switched on at the Sky box - it is.
This is the second Philex amplifier we've had and this one was tested and stated to be working.
If anyone can help us get to the bottom of the problem we'd be eternally grateful!0 -
I have 2 IR eye's running off a double booster box from my HD & had the same problems as the OP.
It turned out is WAS the connections to the second one which was'nt working,so I changed it to a commpresion F & screw on male belling & everythig's working brill now.0 -
Thx Spike7451 -I'll try anything now as it's driving me mad having to get up and run next door every time we want to channel hop!! Sure the neighbours think we're mad as they can hear us walking up and down the hall repeatedly.....
what is "belling" is that what I need to ask for in the shop? And did you change these at the TV end or the amplifier end or both?
Thx again - fingers crossed this will work!!0 -

The Triax booster I use is an F Connection at one end & belling at the other. The's a green light on them which shows they're working correctly.
This is the one I used,(and always use,I've never had a problem with any I've fitted)

This is a belling, the are male & female:

Which screws into the F Connector which replaces the airial fitting.

Might be an idea to replace the booster box you have with a Triax & bung the original one on E-Bay.
HTH,

A problem quite often is when you use a splitter for the cable it they quite often have a resister inside thus your 9v gets reduced. I suggest you use a simple multimeter and check the cables etc at every junction point until you find out where you lose the 9v.Approach her; adore her. Behold her; worship her. Caress her; indulge her. Kiss her; pleasure her. Kneel to her; lavish her. Assert to her; let her guide you. Obey her as you know how; Surrender is so wonderful! For Caroline my Goddess.0

You're assuming the OP has access to a multimeter.0
