Yeah, I know, but I meant for the C86 that I have.
(I believe that R200/300 sets are about £46?)
Not sure what printer to purchase if I replace this one, either another Epson  or a Canon..0 -
Well our printer which is the Epson R300 - a full set of 6 cartridges in a shop would cost £70 approximately. You can get them less if there is a special offer on - or buy the remanufactured ones - which I no longer do. I now buy them on BIN on ebay for around the £20 mark - just keep looking out for them as its the cheapest can get themWeight Loss - 102lb0

Not necessarily.
Trading Standards say...
If the time limit has expired on the guarantee then you have no claim under the guarantee. However, if you can show that the goods were not of satisfactory quality at the time of sale i.e. they were not as durable as it is reasonable to expect, then you may have a claim against the trader or finance company (if applicable) for compensation under the Sale of Goods Act.
The retailer may be responsible for defective goods for up to 6 years. If you can't get any joy from PC World, which I would doubt, speak to your local Trading Standards.Kilty wrote:2) Epson cartridges that come with the printer are nowhere near full, half full at best.
3) A full set of Genuine Epson carts is £30.
I pay less than £5 for a set of 6 for my R300 and never had a problem... and they're full ones...;)

Also, carts for the C86 at 99p each

Incidentally, after my experience of Canon and their support, I would never buy Canon again.0 -
As a Printer Engineer of a number of years working on all different manufactures products. Don’t expect a printer costing under £100 to last for longer than 15 months, the old saying of you get what you pay for is very true.
In order to meet the price point that is demanded by retailers and consumers slimmed down parts are used that will not last forever or cope with high or even medium level printing. A sub £100 printer is designed for at most 1-2 pages a day. On these low end machines the warranty is a year purely because they are not designed to last longer than this, most will NOT provide extended warranties on these products.
The same rings true for ALL manufacturers … the key is to pick the correct printer for the job/user requirements.
Watch the UK printer market …. Hardware prices are set to rise over the next year as we go back towards quality.0 -

It has printed far less than that.paul_h wrote:The retailer may be responsible for defective goods for up to 6 years. If you can't get any joy from PC World, which I would doubt, speak to your local Trading Standards.
The printer I have now wasn't in fact provided by PC World, but by the Epson Express repair centre near me, therefore my claim would be with them now?0 -
No, it would still be with PC World as they sold the item to you... they are the ones that said to use Epson Express... personally not something that I would consider worthy of mentioning in your discussion... simply that the original one was replaced after you complained to them when the original one brokeAll posts made are simply my own opinions and are neither professional advice nor the opinions of my employers

Had plenty of problems with Hewlett Packard but none with Epsom. I bought a Epsom Stylus CX5400 when they came out which must be at least 2 years ago, never let me down yet, hope I'm not tempting providence lol. After trying many makes of printers it would hve to be a really super dooper one for me to buy a different make now. these days you only get what you pay for unfortunately0

Letter from the PA to the Managing Director today.
My issue is being looked at by one of their teams and they aim to resolve it within 14 days.0 -
I use an Epson R200 and have had no problems. I think if you ask 5 different support engineers about which brand is best you will probably get 5 different answers .. Epson are no better or worse than any of the others.
I occasionally get the pages going in at a slight angle but find that if I adjust the stop at the left hand edge a bit tighter it straightens them up again. As far as half-empty cartridges are concerned that is common frmo several manufacturers .. what do you expect for a sub-£100 printer .. these are sold at a loss and they expect to make the money back on people buying cartridges. I have a friend who does very few prints but needs them to be top quality .. he literally buys a printer and when the cartridges run out the printer goes in the bin and he buys another one (reckons it is cheaper than a set of good cartrdiges). I get two sets of tanks plus a spare black one for my R200 for about £25 (and I would only buy inks that carry the relevant kite mark).
IvanI don't care about your first world problems; I have enough of my own!0 -

This does it without fail, every time, no matter what I do0
