Might go for a crossed postal order , but even though its through a bank it still isn't safe though ?

It's no safer than a cheque and it will cost you money to buy it as well. There is no safe method of payment you can use that he accepts..but hold off any decision until you get some sort of contact from seller, or something positive from another buyer.

this probably wont help, but you can see the total sales here
    http://www.goofbay.co.uk/getSellerLists.html?seller=%09desnergeoff&Submit=Check

    Total: £1,842.90
  • Cheers for both the tips and links :) , Quite scary to see a total of £1842.90

I have had contact back from one seller saying they can't reach them either , I'll see If the ones from last week have had any success yet before sending the cheque

12helensp the private seller bit shouldn't be a worry as about 99% of users are registered as such on ebay. Until very recently you couldn't choose any other option.

However I certainly wouldn't trust a new seller with no feedback who doesn't accept paypal. The fact that he doesn't take paypal would have meant I didn't even see the auction, but the fact is the OP has bid so he either gambles the money or risks a neg if the seller does turn out to be genuine.

O_o I was always uneasy if they are privately registered sellers. Maybe wait until someone posts some feedback for the seller before sending the money

just a thought...you weren't mistaking private seller and private feedback were you? I too would find private feedback, ie any member who elected to keep their feedback private a worry .

In fact I've just checked all my seller id and my buyer ids and it doesn't even state how I am registered on any of them. The seller opting to be a private or a business seller only came in recently.
