Daughter's phone stolen... advice re: blocking

My daughters phone (K750i) got stolen at school a couple of weeks ago.

I've reported it to the Police etc. and my insurance (which I can't claim on as I didn't have personal belongings cover!) But as the contract had just ended and we subsequently put her on a PAYG sim, I didn't report it to the network immediately. As I understand it, if they put a block on it and the phone is subsequently found then they can't reverse it and you end up with a useless phone. So I was waiting and hoping, to see if it turned up.... which it hasn't!

What I'd like to know, is can the phone still be barred or does it still have to have the same sim in it as when it was stolen. I have the imei number but I rather think it is too late to report it.

The annoying thing is, we think we know who stole it, but as usual, there's nothing anyone can do without proof! She's gutted as she had some lovely photo's on it which can't be replaced!

Good things come to those who wait......... but the best will be taken by those who got there first ;)

  • i used to work for a mobile fone network (not naming names but one of the worst lol) and you can block both the sim and the phone and both are reversable.

the phone is blocked thru the imei number (ask to get the handset blacklisted), it will be on the box. it can be traced if you don't have it but only through tracing calls made if the same sim card is still in it. when the phone is blacklisted, the only thing accessible is the phone book i think, no calls or anything can ever again be made or received from it, even by changing sim cards, a good thing to do especially if you think you know who stole it. the sim card can also be blocked through the imsi no if i remember correctly. you will need to phone the network up to do this.
