Can any one help? New flat only has electric, what will it cost?!
I've recently purchased my first property, a two bed flat.
But am a bit confused as to the bills? no one can tell me roughly how much it will cost as the whole property is run on electric, no gas at all.
It also has Warm air heating is this expensive?
Should i bite the bullet and install rads?! :mad: HELP!!

If it's any help...I live in a 1 bed flat and my leccy usage without heating is about 3-ish units (kw/hrs) per day. Fridge/freezer uses about 1 unit, average amount of telly, average amount of PC use, normal amount of cooking and about half a dozen cuppa teas (only fill kettle required amount). CH/HW is not electric. Anything not in use is turned off.0

I live in a two bed flat, electric only, we pay £62 a month and get a bill every 6 months, we are always in credit,:beer:0

We could spit out at you random numbers. Or you could simply empirically look at how much you are consuming day by day. I suspect the latter strategy may be of more practical use.0

I moved into a 2 bed all electric flat 2 weeks ago. We have electric heating but not storage heaters so we are on the basic tariff (I phoned to check our tariff so we wouldn't get any nasty surprises, you should probably start by doing this)
The meter in our flat is near the front door and I have got into the habit of checking it when I walk past it so that I can keep track of what we are using. If you can find out what your tariff is and check you meter once or twice a day you will get a feel of what to expect. (I have been making a note of the meter readings in my diary).
I was slightly paranoid about the usage at first. The flat I am living in is occupied by 3 people (my boyfriend and I share a room and an overseas student lives in the other one, we didn't know the student before we moved in). The student moved in 10 days before us and managed to burn through 400 units in that time (roughly £50)! I found out it was because he was leaving the heating on max and then going out with it still on or opening the window to have a cigarette (effectively heating the air outside!). Since last Tuesday AM we have used about 80 units between 3 of us (about £10) so it wa definitely the heating that cost the money!
In our case the flat is empty all day so no daytime electricity costs. We put the heating on at 20 or less for a 2/3 hours per day. The heating is only on if there is someone in the room and we close the door too (usually on in 2 rooms at a time). We have a dishwasher which goes on 2/3 times a week and a washer/dryer which goes on 3 times a week. In the evenings and at weekends there are usually 2 TVs an Xbox a laptop and a PC being used at the same time. The oven goes on for roughly an hour most evenings. We have an electric shower which I use every day and the other two use every other day (although I am "one of those" women who take forever to use the bathroom and probably spend enough time in the shower for all three of us!)
I think you need to find out -
1. Do you have storage heaters or just all electric?
2. What tariff are you on and is this the right one for you?
3. What is you usage?
As I said I have only been in my flat for 2 weeks but I already know what to expect in terms of electricity bills just by spending a few seconds a day looking at the meter.

I recently switched to a new supplier as I thought EON were to high. The new company asked for a meter reading, something I had not done in the past which looking back on was a foolish mistake. It turns out that EON were reading the meter for the flat accross the way who were using considerably more than myself. Silly people. Anyway, its worth checking.0

I'm sorry to hear we were charging against the wrong meter whilst you were with us. Unfortunately, this can happen with new builds.
It's what's known as a crossed meter issue. We will have been given the wrong meter details by the builders/developers for possibly quite a few, if not all, the properties on the development.
I suspect we are already going through all the properties to make sure we have matched the correct meters to each individual flat.
Have you sorted this out with us? Your post doesn't make this clear. If not, we have a special crossed meter team who will handle this for you. They will make sure the meter in your property is matched to the correct address and re-bill accordingly for the whole time you were with us.
It may be you are due a refund, particularly as you believe more electricity was being used at the other flat.

Have a word with our crossed meter team; they will explain what has been done to arrive at the proposed final figure.
Hopefully, this will clear up the confusion but give me a shout if you need any more info.
