Just hope you never lose your job Vader...

I recently completed my 6 week period of signing on every week. The JobCentre told me I could claim travel expenses for the weeks that I wouldn't normally sign on. However, I walk to my JobCentre so didn;t need to claim.

When I was at my 13 week meeting they asked us if we had come by bus and that if we had they would reimburse. Im not sure if you would be covered for future appointments/meetings but dont see why it would be any different. They also told us that if we were travelling to interviews that we could receive subsidised travel and just to enquire at the Job Centre when we were next signing on.

i have recently been on the 13 week assesment, and now have to go to the jcp everyweek for 6 weeks.

i realise i wont get help with the transport costs on the weeks when i usually sign on, but can anyone tell me whether i can get my bus tickets reimbursed for the weeks i dont usually sign on??

    thanks for your help:)

i am pretty sure that anytime you have to attend the jobcentre on a day that isnt your signing day they reimburse your bus fares. you have to show your ticket as proof. personally i dont bother, i just walk as i would rather do that than be made to feel like a criminal by being asked for proof.
  • That's right you can claim travel costs for attending your jcp office on a non signing day.
You may like to inquire at your local bus station about a half fare bus pass as you can get help towards this too. If you have to attend an interview out of your area there is the travel to interview scheme (tis). Please apply for the tis BEFORE your interview.
Clothing for interviews or clothes/shoes for a new job can be bought under the advisor discretionary fund ADF. Most of the help available can be accessed thru your advisors.
Please do not be put off from making applications, people are not treated like criminals, the jcp have to just establish eligibility to the funds.

if this is in relation to what i said the i shoud make it clear that my point was specifically related to claiming bus fares. it is being treated like a criminal because they wont take your word for it when you say you got the bus.
