the dreaded 'water damaged' line....
Options
So my blackberry 8900 curve had been playing up for a while.. freezing/shutting itself down as well as the ball acting up.. So i decided to finally send it back to o2. A week afterwards I got a call from the o2 returns centre saying that the phone was water damaged and therefore not under warranty.
I said that i'd never dropped it in water but the guy said it could have been water damaged in the rain or from sweat on my face.. which sounds ridiculous to me and it seems that blackberry/o2 are just trying to get out of handing over a replacement model/bothering to fix.
I don't have insurance and the bloke offered me a refurbed curve for £75.. Should I just accept this or do I try complain and see if they'll offer it for free? Not really sure what to do now....
Any idea's/help would be greatly appreciated.

You could try asking for evidence of the water damage. There are those colour changing indicator stickers, some of which are not accessible by the phone owner, and corrosion can occur if it is, say, sweat which has got into the phone's internals.
However, don't let them fob you off without any evidence.0 -
You can clean your trackball by using a piece of writing paper. Either lock or turn your phone off, then using the paper press quite hard on the trackball rubbing it with the paper. Make sure you do it to clean the trackball thoughly. I know it seems strange but it worked for me. I got the trackball greasy and I used this method to clean mine on my 8900.
You could also try updating the software. Go here to download the latest software https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads/browseSoftware.do;jsessionid=C01381BF10E81628FB9AEA4DAAB1A74F.node2
It is for Wind Hellas. Download and install.
Go to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader. Delete the vendor XML file.
Connect your phone and then click on the AppLoader and the software should install. DO NOT disconnect your phone until the process is finished. It will automatically back up and reinstall your contacts and all other personal details and emails.
I'm running this software and I'm on O2 and have had no problems.
Hope this helps. If you need any help either post here or pm me.0 -

So i had to shell out £74 for a new phone which has been a bit dodgy.. sent it back when I was back from holiday, not heard anything back from o2 so rang them up this afternoon for them to tell me 'sorry sir, we tried to contact you, but the phone is water damaged.
I AM OUTRAGED
Not only have i kept my phone in the leather case, but also made sure it wasn't it in any water environment or places of moisture..
I've asked to speak to the o2 repairs manager and I'm waiting for a call back..0
