Asking for the ISSUE of a MAC seldom gives notice to existing ISP as it is just a code VALID for 30-days and does NOT have to be used. Indeed they usually just sit there and hope it won't be used.

I recommend looking at your Tiscali T&Cs. Some ISPs will say that the USE of the MAC = notice automatically given at that date and hence you need to pay for the final n-days notice period from then.

(ie "n" may 14 days, or perhaps 30days/1month (as Be/o2), or perhaps to end of your current or next billing period)

Some will require you to give them notice formally/separately and it is ALWAYS best to check (eg when you are sure you have migrated and got working Be service) that Tiscali KNOW you HAVE left and are at some stage in your final notice n-day paid period.

Alternatively you MAY be able to already give n-days notice to end the contract, but be CLEAR that you are NOT cancelling the service ASAP and that you are migrating away with the issued MAC.

One bit of good news - if you DO find that Be Value's 40GB/month cap (from 1/7) does prove a hassle then (currently) Telefonica let you migrate from Be to say o2 Standard (equivalent to Be Value without any cap) WITHOUT CONTRACT PENALTY (ie they wouldnt charge you the rest of your 12m commitment to Be) though you would of course be starting a fresh 12m commitment to o2 (but ALSO able to blag a fresh cashback referral and any o2 joiner incentive at the time) - ie you haven't burnt your bridges :)
