Am after some wooden blinds for a window of 130cm width , but every blind I find is either 120cm or 150cm .
Is it acceptable or easy to trim blinds ?
Thanks

I'm in the same boat and most say on it can't be trimmed......I'm thinking about having it out of the window instead of in!You may walk and you may run
You leave your footprints all around the sun
And every time the storm and the soul wars come
You just keep on walking0 -
Not really as the mechanism in the top of the blind tends to extend right to the end
We have ours on infront of the window instead of in the window0 -
I have cut venetian blinds in the past by taping the blind firmly together so all the slats then become a solid piece of wood, and then using a fine saw to saw through them.
If you need 10 take 20cm off you might get away with 10cm on either end.0 -
We have trimmed our Ikea ones. You would need to check how much "free" length there is on the ones you are looking at. The Ikea ones you can easily cut off about 5cm each end, maybe slightly more.
So you could not reduce 150 cm to 130 cm.
However Ikea do a 140 cm width, so that could be cut to 130 cm.
Drop is 155 cm and 250 cm I think. Drop is adjusted by removing unwanted slats.0 -
Wooden blinds can be a classic addition to your home decoration. According to me wooden blinds cannot be trimmed instead it can be custom made. They are also good investment of money, as they tend to last longer and can retain the charm throughout. It also provides best protection against sunlight during hot summer days.0

Another who has trimmed wooden blinds. After measuring them, draw the strings so that blinds are gathered up tight, bind them tightly together with tape and cut. You honestly cannot tell that they have been trimmed!0

I trimmed my wooden blinds. Clamped them closed, jigsawed through them, job done. Look perfect.0

Google is your friend (if you haven't bought yet). Google 'UK wooden blinds' and the first hit will make blinds to size at good prices. No relation to the site - just happen to have been through this very problem and bought 3!0

[QUOTE=Armando. According to me wooden blinds cannot be trimmed instead it can be custom made. MOST CUSTOM blinds are made as standard sizes and trimmed to suit the measurements. 99% have a gap between the ends of the rail and the mechanism. Taping both ends very tight, and saw thru' the whole lot at once. A fine hack saw or even a chop saw or grinder/circuar saw will do. If the ends of the wood slats will be shown, stain them to match, and don't forget to remove extra slats not needed by taking bottom pins out and cut and shut as as needed. IKEA ones are quite good by the way. I have 10, all cut down a my place.0

Another one here who tightly taped the wooden blind at the point I wanted the cut to be made & my jigsaw made light work & a perfect job of cutting off the excess. The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0
