Hi,
My wife has a Nokia she no longer uses and we would now like to get a new SIM and give it to our 10 year old son. I'm sure I'll be able to unlock the phone using info found on this fantastic site, but now I need help choosing the best value SIM.

Calls will be mainly eveing and weekend and possibly a fair amount of texts. I'm hoping to keep monthly spend to under a fiver. The whole tariff market baffles me,I have to admit, so I'm hoping to use the collective moneysaving brain to get some advice.

Thanks,

Pat

  • Get a pay as you go - you can also top up extra texts with some companies. Definitely not a contract phone

Yeah, PAYG is your best bet.

Contract a big no no, if anything huge bills come through then you are liable for them and the "it was my 10 year old son who did it" story wont wash as contract are for 18 year olds + so it would still be your responsibility.

Get one of those O2 sim cards which give you 300 odd texts a month.I'm not sure when their free sim card give away is back on though.
