No central heating.. Salus control units anyone??

hi all
we've no heating at the moment  The system is less than 2 years old, and the plumber that fitted it thinks that it might be a problem with the wireless control units that we have, in that the room thermostat downstairs does not appear to be communicating with the control unit upstairs. (The batteries are about a month old btw). He suggested we replace the wireless unit with a hard wired one, and said that we should call an electrician for that. I have a couple of issues with the plumber but for now my questions are:
1. should/could wi-fi signals interfere with my thermostat?
2. can anyone recommend an electrician in Herefordshire, with experience at Salus units??!!

We've tried re-setting the units & setting the heating to manual (the valve won't stay open for any length of time) but no luck.

The electrician can't do the work before Monday, so I'm going to ring Salus tomorrow and see what they suggest, but if anyone has any ideas for me to try tonight that would be great!

  • you can reset the unit to comunicate with the receiver. i have not herd of any modern units be affected by wi fi. you can download the instructions off there website.
You need a heating egineer not a plumber. what he should of done is linked out the control on the boiler to check if its a boiler problem or the controls.

    Hi

Having a similar problem with my Worcester combi boiler. The wi-fi just kept flashing and would not communicate with the thermostat/timer. The engineer removed the wi-fi thing and pressed the override button. Now turn the radiators on via the boiler. (Still waiting for a replacement wi-fi connector)

Is yours similar? (Mine is gas and this thread is not about gas is it?)

thanks both for your quick replies :-)
Yes my system is gas (have I posted in the wrong place?!)
The plumber tried to get the radiators to work via the boiler as you suggest, but the valve won't stay open for long enough. He did say that if the tank was full then that wouldn't work. At the moment the radiators are all just barely not cold (if that makes sense), and the thermostat reads 12.
