How do you mean court summons for the difference?

If i get a full refund would that be it? Job done?

Just use the small claims process.

    No.

They are responsible for any further damage that has occurred & also the additional time & additional costs involved (expenses etc) in sorting their negligence out.

The roofing company has just emailed and said it will not give me a refund and that i need pay an additional 2500 on top of the 1700 already paid to re do the roof.

Im abit stuck where to go now? Should i go down the trading standards route or solicitor route?

Any advice would be greatly appriciated.

No need for a solicitor, use the small claims process-that's what it's there for.

Stop ringing and stop e-mailing! Get another reputable roofer (member of a professional body) in to look and do a quote for putting right the damage, then write a recorded delivery letter detailing their failings, the additional damage and advising them you intend to claim for full recompense though small claims. Enclose a copy of the report from the other roofer. Mention the sacked roofer: that is an admission of guilt if every I heard one.

Trading Standards 1st, they will have more impact to the company as all cases can be seen by others. Small claims means nothing to these people.
