    Indeed I do.
It is slightly unclear although it would appear that only a surface water sewer is shown and not a combined sewer.
However, elswhere in the documents I have it says that all sewers are not necessarily shown on plans and that it is possible for sewers to exist without appearing on plans.
The fact remains that in 2002 the water board stated I was connected to public sewerage and now they are saying I'm not.
One statement has to be false. (Unless of course someone has sneakily removed the public sewer between 2002 and now!! :))

  • Hello all,
I promised to update you so here goes.
Finally, after a long battle and furious exchanges of letters (not via my solicitor - thought I'd keep the cost down) the water board has offered me an out of court settlement.
They have agreed to send me a cheque for about £7000 which will cover the cost of a treatment plant installation.
It's all been worth it and just goes to show that it is possible to win damages from large companies if you are prepared to fight.
I dread to think what it would have cost in solicitors fees if I had used one.

Thanks to all who contributed and offered advice.

  • Thanks for the update and well done-what a result
Still leaves a question though- where the hell has it been going for the last 150 years? If you ever find out do post it here please.
I once oversaw some renovations for friends who bought an old house and then went on hols just as the builders started. House was built on rock -builders asked me where tank was-couldent find it anywhere- as had been an executors sale I had to locate the late owners son- and the tank turned out to be single chamber under a sheet of steel in the next door farmers field
Worked fine all the time they owned the house- had to keep in with the farmer though!

i had a house which had a 6 foot deep, 6 foot square hole in a nearby field, earth floor but lined with corrugated tin, with corrugated tin roof, which drained the liquid matter into the vegetable patch, and we used the "other" matter as compost in due course ! fabulous system, ancient, but, sound.
