Passport damage, do I need to replace?

I would check with the airline before relying on an ID card. I know that Thomson's don't accept them and require a passport.
Really? Even Ryanair accept ID cards
And even Thomson's website is a bit ambiguous about it
Passengers must hold valid ID with a photograph i.e. International Passport or EU National ID.
and
British Citizens must hold a valid 10-year passport
Sounds like they may not have caught up with the fact that we do now have EU ID cards.0 -

Sweet, ordered the ID card. However it said allow 10 days for delivery
I have opted for flattening out the passport under some heavy books as the damage is on the right hand side of the photo page and not near the photo it doesn't look too bad.
Also If I sent it off to ips it could take ages to come back as damaged passports have to be checked to see if anyone has tried to tamper with them and as I am due to be leaving on the 18th of this month its the lesser of the risks.0 -

Don't wait for the blank application form to arrive.Ring and make your appointment straight away on 0300 330 0808: they often have cancellations. You will need a countersignatory. Take them with you and get your form there. Alternatively, both the staff ID centres at London City and Manchester Airports keep supplies.RIP independent MSE.

You fill in the referees details on the application form - full name, dob, address, you do't have to get them to sign anything, but you must ask them in case IPS contact them.Titch0
