Hi,

I am on Tesco PAYG for my iphone, and I am off to the US soon, and I don't want to have a problem with my iphone connecting and downloading without me realising (I would like to just use it to recieve and send texts, and use the ipod function).

Could somebody guide me through what I need to do? I was going to just turn on airplane mode, but realised I'd not be able to recieve texts!

Thanks

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
A lot of phones have the ability to turn off data roaming (mine has it off by default), I suspect the iPhone is no different. On the off chance that it is, just fudge the access point name a little so it's impossible for it to connect.

Yep - Roaming data is all you need to turn (mine seems to be off by default too).

Settings - General - Network - Data roaming = Off.

Best to connect your iphone to a free WIFI hotspot when over there if you need to connect to the internet.
And just to clarify - GPS is free if you have any sat nav apps installed.
